I've never heard of it! I've added it to my TBR. I see it's a retelling of "The Twelve Dancing Princess," which is a fairy tale that doesn't get retold enough. I read Jessica Day George's retelling
Princess of the Midnight Ball and adored it.

It's actually a retelling of two different fairytales, but I'll let you discover the second for yourself. It's a really beautiful story. Well written and beautifully so.

Yay! I'm so excited for you Jenna! It is one of my favorite stories EVER.

Wow this is a really long post so I don't think I'm going to read it all.

My name is Cassi, just turned 25 a week or so ago. I'm from Kentucky (Southeastern, borderline Appalachian region). I work for Girl Scouts (professionally, not volunteering). I read YA, fantasy, and a little bit of sci-fi (and occasionally books that are none of the above but thats rare).

Random bits about myself: I hike, rock climb, cave, camp. I like to knit, scrapbook, do crafty-stuff. I garden. I lived in Switzerland volunteering at a Girl Scout world center for 3 months. I'm obsessed with my dog. I do both writing and photography. I have too many hobbies that I cannot possibly keep up with them all.

Welcome Cassi... no worries about reading the thread... it's mostly just Team This, Team That, blah blah ; )

I heart the Girl Scouts, I was a GS through 10th grade (geek alert) and worked at a GS camp during college.

Did I step into the Twilight Zone or something? Since when am I the bad guy? I show nothing but love!

Haven't you heard that before Chachic? Perhaps my lame humor does not translate in the Philippines. That's probably a good thing!

Hahaha no, I've never heard it before! The humor probably got lost in translation.

Heidi I actually started working for Girl Scouts at camp during college. I stayed in as a girl til the end of 6th grade when my troop broke up (and I did NOT want this to happen) but rejoined & worked at my childhood camp during college. Then someone mentioned World Centers and well...there was no stopping me then. I actually wish I'd been able to stay in longer becase Wider Ops (now Destinations) sound way awesome to me.

Cassi - I still hum GS camp songs from time to time. Actually my co-workers name is Joe and I always sing him a GS song about a Joe who works in a button factory and he just looks at me like I am insane (which I am :)

Those are some of my favorites too! Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast was actually the first retelling I ever read, way back when I actually was a YA! Aww, memories. I loved McKinley so much that I read Deerskin right after, which wasn't the most age-appropriate read for me ... but I survived it. ;)

hey, anybody here download ebooks to read? I dont have a supply of these books mentioned where i live, so I was wondering if i can get them online.
Anybody know any good sites for free ebooks please?

She does a pretty good job at posting free books. I also subscribe to the the free AND bargain book threads over at the kindle boards.

I generlly download books from www.4shared.com and www.esnips.com and read them on my pc using pdf.

Oh ok, then I guess it doesn't matter what format. I mainly just use the books site and kindle boards.
