Yeah, hey, hey, hey new people! Jump right in to the discussions!

Yes!! It started last Friday! 10 days off is AMAZING!!
Hi, i just joined this group and i actually just found this site yesterday. Im excited about being able to discuss and share my book interesst and ive already found alot of new books that i want to read through here. I used to read alot when i was younger, but then stopped for awhile cuz of school and other stuff going on..
About a year ago i got back into reading again, and i love YA (all fantasy genres and paranormal romance) =)

Now about the new books you are finding. Be afraid, be VERY afraid because soon your TBR (to be read) list will be so long that it is overwhelming. I know from experience, tehe.
Please jump right it on any of the discussions.
Welcome, Louise! Your TBR list will be LONG after joining this group. Haha! Peep is right...the people on here are the best!

Hey guys you should check it out. The first two chapters are up and they look good. Go on, you know you want to.

Welcome Becca and all the other newbies, I hope (Gale) you enjoy it. We all have a great time debating (about Gale and his awesomeness) and as previously stated (Gale) your TBR pile will grow exponentially.

See, we're already at it. These ladies currently have me reading The Book Thief. I have to say, they know what they're talking about. It's a great recommendation.

hahahahaha too funny Britt!

Aw, Peep, tyvm! Glad you enjoyed it... now if my editor will just finish, I can make fixes and get the darn thing to press! : )

I just think these young-adult genres exhibit so much of what I enjoy about adolescents in general, a sense of adventure, an openness, and a creativity so many people tend to lose as they get older. It's just all about imagination and endless possibilities, isn't it?
Thanks, and hopefully we'll get a chance to talk again soon!
Welcome Jason! YA is definitely my favorite genre, especially paranormal romance and urban fantasy.

Thanks to you too Shannen. Urban fantasy definitely has a lot of fans, but I'm never able to settle on a title. Is there one you would hold up as your favorite? What attracts you to the genre in general?
My favorite YA books are The Twilight Saga don't hold it against me), The Hunger Games series, Shiver, The Dark Divine and a few others.
My fave non-YA series is the Darkfever series.
My fave non-YA series is the Darkfever series.

As far as Urban Fantasy is concerned, Jason you should check out the "Wicked Lovely" books by Melissa Marr and the "Word and the Void" series by Terry Brooks. There's lots of good Urban Fantasy out there and you'll get lots of recommendations from this group. Happy Reading!
Just listed my fave YA, not UF. Most of what I read is PNR, be it YA or adult.

Thanks for the welcome Becca! I'm not too worried about specific genre distinctions either. I look forward to checking out more of these suggestions and hopefully acquiring a few. Talk to you later and have a great night!

I haven't read any of those so I don't know if they're any good but free is free!

Welcome Jason! :) It's great that Goodreads allows people from all over the world to talk about common interests. I'm from the Philippines!
Peep, let me know what you think of Luxe. As for Wicked Lovely, a lot of people enjoyed it but it was just okay for me. Maybe urban fantasy isn't really my thing? As for the Lemony Snicket books, I read all of those! But I only borrowed them from a friend. They're middle grade so maybe a bit young for your taste. I enjoyed the first few ones but the latter books became dragging.

I just finished my latest read of The Sherwood Ring by Elizabeth Marie Pope (I saw that one on an earlier post by Josie). It has always been one of my favorites, and I was long overdue to read it again.
As far as other YAs, besides HP, I love the Anne of Green Gables books, the Little House books, Eight Cousins and Rose In Bloom, series like Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden and Cherry Ames. it's impossible to list all my favorites, but those are a few.
I currently work in a bookstore, where I used to practically run the children's section. It was great seeing all my old favorites and recommending them to others, and seeing new books as they came out. My daughter also worked there for a couple years (also in the kids' section) and enjoyed it just as much. She is now working on her Masters of Library Science, so you see that the book bug bit her hard too!
I look forward to seeing what others are reading too!

Wow Susan works in a bookstore. Talk about a fox guarding the hen house. Do you EVER bring home a paycheck?
Alexia - what people say you shouldn't read YA? They should be whipped!!
I liked Everwood too. The girl that was the love interest is now on Brothers and Sisters.
I hope you both post often.
