message 956: by Caryn (new)

Caryn (carynreads) Hi, my name is Caryn, and I joined this group a while ago, but I've mostly been a "lurker" in the discussion boards. I recently finished Mockingjay, and I while I really enjoyed it, I wasn't completely satisfied with the ending.

message 957: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Sandilands (book-gal) | 1 comments I'm a newbie, an author of children's books and coauthor with my husband, J. Robert Whittle, who writes Canadian bestselling family friendly novels (10) set anywhere. Some of the comments in this group struck a chord so I thought I would comment. We're self-published so have control over our own marketing but as our books are mainly purchased by adults (for themselves and YAs), we generally do not list YA as a category for fear of losing adult readers. However, many of our books are about kids growing up in historical settings and adults love them! They're now listed here on my Goodreads page if this interest you. Thanks.

Debra Cotterman | 1 comments Hi, I am new to Goodreads. During one of my first looks around the site I clicked on Groups and this group came to the top. I have loved children's and young adult books all my life. As a little girl I read my way through my elementary school library. I moved into more adult novels as a teenager then ended up going back and doing a minor in Childrens Lit in college. Later, when I had my own kids I had a good excuse to read children's stories again and now that they are pretty much grown up I finally realize I don't really need an excuse to pursue something I love! I love seeing all the great recommendations and hope I can contribute to the discussions as well.

Diabolical Daemonic (DemonicAngel) Hello, I'm Demonic.

Cissi "Invisible but Invincible" (cissiinvisiblebutinvincible) Welcome, all new people!

OliviaJo | 3 comments Hi, Everyone! I'm Olivia Jo. I have a great love for well-written teen fiction, and am always looking to find new books or series in the young adult genre. This group looks like a great place. :)

Elyse (elysie) | 1 comments Hello I am Elyse! I have been on the BN boards alot and was suggested to go over here. I live in MN.. have a full time desk job, but yet still love young adult books!

message 972: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Welcome Elyse. I am from MN, but live in IL now. I head back to MN at least 4 times per year and am a rabid (and generally disappointed) Vikings fan.

message 973: by DeeAnn (new)

DeeAnn (anndeehi) Just started Mockingjay and had to put it down to homeschool my daughter...school's out and here I go to read, read, read!

Cissi "Invisible but Invincible" (cissiinvisiblebutinvincible) I dislike school. It stresses me out, and now I have about two minutes(literally) everyday to read. :(

message 975: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Cool DeeAnn! What grade?

message 976: by DeeAnn (new)

DeeAnn (anndeehi) Kindergarten! We are just starting this wonderful process...teehee. No, really, it is fun, just time consuming this first week. I am sure it will get better as I figure out what I am doing.

Thanks for asking!

message 977: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) That's awesome DeeAnn. Keep your head up. At least it's not 10th grade or something :)

message 978: by DeeAnn (new)

DeeAnn (anndeehi) Yes, thanks goodness for that!

message 983: by Afton (new)

Afton (aftons) | 1 comments Hello everyone,

My name is Afton and I'm from Canada (BC).
I'm fairly new to the site.. but am already getting addicted (oh dear). I thought I'd join a few reading groups that share the same love of my favourite books and can give me some good ideas for new reads. :).

message 984: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Welcome Afton!

Cissi "Invisible but Invincible" (cissiinvisiblebutinvincible) Welcome, all new people!!!

message 986: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn (quietcait) | 13 comments Helly everyone, my name is Caitlyn. I am a proud Young Adult reader even though I have young grandchildren. One suggestion, a friend and fab author, Jessica Park, just released her first YA novel called Relatively Famous. I loved it (without bias). She started writing cozy mysteries (The Gourmet Girl series).

message 987: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (marcher08) Hi everyone! I'm Michelle and I am an Adult YA reader. I love to read and read a wide variety but some of the best things published right now in fiction are considered YA. My philosophy is why miss out on a good YA book just because you happen to be considered a grown up when it was published?

message 988: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments The best philosophy Michelle! and welcome to you both!

message 989: by Tiphaine (new)

Tiphaine | 71 comments Hello!
Just joined this group, I love Goodreads!! I read for as long as I can remember and I read pretty much everything I can get my hands on but I especially love YA novels, fantasy/sci fi, urban fantasy and crime novels. Some many books to read, I'm afraid I won't live long enough to read everything I want!

message 990: by J.C. (new)

J.C. | 30 comments HI! I'm Erin. I've recently joined Goodreads and am still finding my feet. I am a member of two other groups too. I love YA books, paranormal romance, fantasy and other fiction too. Have enjoyed reading Shiver and Linger recently (they were great, can't wait for the final novel!) and am currently reading The Host (I loved Twilight saga). I am an aspiring author and thought I might fit in well in this group, so hello everyone!

message 991: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Hello Erin!

message 992: by Andy (new)

Andy | 2 comments Hello everyone!
I'm Andy, and I'm not that much of an adult, but since I loove YA books and going to the colourful children/young adults section to boy them makes me kind of uncomfortable, I felt identified with the group :).
Sorry if there's something wrong with my english!

message 993: by Andy (new)

Andy | 2 comments I'm reading clockwork angel and loving it!!! Im still waiting for mockingjay to arrive, its been a long wait, I think the delivery truck..."

We share the feeling! it's not arrived in Argentina yet.. damn.

message 994: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (k10bentley) Hi! I'm Kristen. I am an adult (pushing 40) who teaches high school English. One of my students introduced me to The Hunger Games last fall and I've been loving YA ever since. I'm new to GoodReads, and I've been on Shelfari for a while, but I LOVE Goodreads more.

Now that school is starting tomorrow, I'll have three books going at once...one at home, one at school, and one on my commute - I love Playaways!

Happy Reading!

message 995: by Eden (new)

Eden Silverfox (tsalagi_writer) | 135 comments Hi Kristen. Welcome to the group :)

message 996: by DJ (new)

DJ | 7 comments Hey all - Been on Good Reads for a while but this is the first group I've joined. Glad to see there's others of us out there into YA Fiction to compare with and get recommendations from. This site has been great for allowing me to review and search for YA Fic books before heading to the library to stock up for the week. Currently I'm reading the 5th book of the Maximum Ride series. Not the best written fiction I've ever read, but they're all quick reads, so I'll be through with the series soon and need something new to move onto. I look forward to reading what you all like and dislike and what I might read next. --DJ

I'm Jessica. Not new to goodreads, but caught a glimpse of this group through my update feed and I had to see what it was all about!

I love reading YA books (usually paranormal). My first YA book was Twilight and I haven;t looked back since. I also really enjoy:

The Vampire Academy series
