Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
Introductions

Piper, I'm so glad you loved it as well! I always feel as though it deserves to be a more talked-about(/doted-upon!) book (despite the fact that I myself had to be forced to read it the first time..tsk)
And hi Paula, hope Shiver's proving a joyous read! I liked it too.

I joined Goodreads awhile ago and just recently started being active on here regularly. I enjoy reading a variety of books and genres.
My name is Monica I have two grown children. A daughter who will be 20 this December and my son who is 18. I am currently going through a divorce and I am not letting that take away from my reading, if possible. I am 42 years old and have been told I don't act my age. :)
If you want to know more just ask. Look forward to seeing everyone around the threads.

I look forward to discussing young adult with all of you! Cheers!

Fax! Some of my faves are right there. I've loved Susan Cooper's books since I was eight and re-read the Dark is Rising series at least once a year. Ender's Game is a recent adition to my favorites. I kinda wish I had discovered it sooner!
Welcome to the group all you new peeps. It's good to have you here.

Some of my favorite YA books are...

I'm Jen and I'm a YA book addict from Florida. I am 23 (soon to be 24) and this year I have become obsessed with the YA genre. I can't say that I read a lot of YA books when I was younger. When I was a kid I did read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz & Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret over and over again, but then I didn't really read much stuff until I found Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which got me to reading again, love the HP series. But even then, I didn't read any other YA, until Twilight my junior year of college. That's where I started becoming curious about the genre, and what YA books were and what YA books were out there. But because of school I didn't have much time to read anything other than school related books, until I graduated a year ago from college. After that, I started researching YA books and have been reading YA like crazy this whole year and I'm loving it because I didn't have much time to do leisure reading during college and YA books especially are sooo good, I didn't realize I had been missing out so much. It's also great to see I'm not the only adult who loves YA, this group has inspired me to keep reading YA, no matter what anybody says, so thanks!!

A lil about me... Ive always loved to read, but fell away from it in the past and have just recently picked it back up again. Oh man, I can believe I let myself stray away from immersing myself into a good book on a regular basis!
anyways, name is Megan. I am 21 years young and just recently married my soldier! Being an Army wife to an MP with no kids leaves me lots of spare time to read! I live in Georgia with my yorkie, and hubby of course!
I am soooo glad to have found this group!
Make the best of this new year yall!
-Meg

Hey guys! So I just joined this group this afternoon...
I'm 24, but I gotta say, I love YA fiction. It's mostly what I read. My little sista & I (she's 19) read all the time and discuss books. =) I've always loved to read, but don't have nearly as much time as I would like lately. Sigh!
Pretty excited about this group and seeing what everybody else has to say about the books they're reading!

And Wendy you are so right. Since I've found this group, my 'to be read' list has increased immensely, there's a lot of great recommendations here (:
Oh no, Wendy! That is not good. My to read list is already ridiculous!! Lol.

I'm Sara, 28 yrs old mom of two boys, one on Earth and one in Heaven (lost him to SIDS 9 1/2 years ago), I'm divorced from their dad, and have been seeing someone since 2007, and I live in the lovely state of Iowa. I have an addiction to reading, it's something that I can't go without for very long. I've been reading YA mostly in the last year, and it's been very hard to get to other genres, but sometimes I do sneak a different genre in. My 8 1/2 year old son LOVES to read just like me!, I can't wait until he's a bit older so I can start suggesting books to him. So, that's pretty much me in a nutshell.

I wish my 6 year old loved to read. She fights me.

Welcome to the group everybody!

I think my son started to like reading when he read the Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He loves those books.

I'm Liz. YA books are my guilty pleasure. I just started a blog where I review YA books. I'm addicted to goodreads because I'm always looking for upcoming books. The goal of my blog is to help people find their next book to read. If you love YA books and need some reading suggestions, please check it out! =]

I'm Rollie, a 21-year old book fanatic from Philippines. I'm really interested in YA novels. I don't have any logical reason why I love reading despite the fact that I'm an engineering student. Yes, I should solve some math problems than read literary books. But what should I do if reading is part of my life? Or more like, my life. I really want to have recommendations and buddy who're into some action packed YA novels. :)
And please do check out my BLOG to view my reviews. :)

I would love to make friends of goodreads, and this group (something I'm interested in) seemed a good way to go about that.

My name is Catherine, but everyone calls me Cat. I'm 30 years old (I can't believe it...) & I live in Sallisaw, Oklahoma (which is about 30 minutes from where I grew up & lived my whole life; Fort Smith, Arkansas). I have a 4 year old son named Elijah Scott who is a genius. I know everyone thinks their child is a genius, but I've just been really blessed... He's very well behaved & smart smart smart... And handsome! I am married to my best friend, Richard & he passed away on November 13th. It still feels like a dream... We had been best friends for 16 years, been together for 6, & married for 4. They are the greatest things & biggest blessings in my life... I miss Richard a lot. But at least I have my son. Anyways... I'm addicted to Goodreads, Facebook, my Kindle, gum, buying books (I have over 30 books I need to read on my bookshelves & don't even look at my To Be Read list), Netflix, XBox, mocha frappes from McDonald's... lol And I love to be on goodreads to add to my HUGE TBR list. I'll read just about anything, but YA Paranormal is my favorite I think, that and memoirs of famous people or about drug addiction. If you have anymore questions or whatever, just drop me a few lines! Add me if you want too! :D
<3; Cat

Sorry about your loss cat =(
