New here. Jessica from the UK. Found this group through a GR buddy of mine :)"
Jessica!!! Hey great to see you here! welcome!

I guess I haven't introducte myself, so now just a few words about me.
I'm from austria, my name is Martina (Tina) and I'm 26 years old. I'm working in an office for a bus company in Vien..."
I got into books again with Harry Potter too! and then moved on to Twilight which really made me get into YA books big time I have to say, haha. By the way, your English is fantastic.
It's interesting you mentioned "The Mortal Instruments" series. I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't read it yet, but I want to, as soon as I finish with a couple of other books - that's my goal. Your, to be read list, will explode after joining this group, mine sure has. Anywhoo, welcome to the group.
** and welcome to all the new people! I'm a semi newbie myself and I love this group. It's great to see so many fellow YA enthusiasts (if that's the right word?) I think so, oh well :p

They are quite addicting huh? :) I can't wait for the next book to come out. I'm currently listening to her other series,

Its definitely not as good! lol. This is my *cough* third *cough* attempt at finishing it, but I will feel like a failure if I give up again. I'm halfway through it already and am trying to talk myself into finishing it.
hmm, seems kinda bad huh? You shouldn't half to force yourself to finish a book. I keep cheating on Covet with other more interesting books, lol

I really liked the Twilight series, least favorite probably Breaking Dawn, but that fluctuates. I've also gotten intoThe Iron King series, and The Red Pyramid series, can't wait for the second one to come out!

"
hy Jen,
thanks for the nice welcome and the positive mention of my english :)
I guess it kind of worked to read good books rather in english than in german, so the progress in the language get along with excitement and enjoyment by reading wonderful books.
Yeah, I think many have started with Twilight or Harry Potter and then got hooked up wiht YA and Fantasy books. And if you really haven't already read MORTRAL INSTRUMENTS and hurry up to the next library and get them. And then go on with Clockwork Angel. My plan is that I'm going to read a short series now and then in march I'll read Clockwork Angel, then the MI books again and afterwards I hope the fourth book of MI is already out. :D

I really liked the Twi..."
Hi Amy! Have you read the Percy Jackson series? The latest spin-off The Lost Hero was pretty great! I would recommend starting with the Percy Jackson series first before the The Lost Hero though. :)

"..."
Your welcome, Tina ;)
Oh that's awesome and I hear you on reading great books in english that helped you better learn english. I did the same thing when I was learning spanish when I was growing up, it's a great idea.
Oh I will, thank you for the recommendation. Actually I don't know which to get first, if The Mortal Instruments or Clockwork Angel. Because I really really want to read The Mortal Instruments, but I think I just might read Clockwork Angel first, just because I love the idea of a paranormal/fantasy book set in the Victorian era. Oh yea I heard the 4th TMI books comes out in April, I think. I want to read all of them before that too :D
Heidi I wrote: "Welcome Morgan!"
Thank you!
Thank you!

My name is Donna. I'm from New England, and I'm new to the group. I love reading YA fiction. I'm using the lists created by all the members here to fill my new Nook! I just finished the Percy Jackson series and can't wait for more!! I'm glad I found this group and look forward to reading/discussing books with everyone here.

thanks, you are too nice :)
about MI and ClockworkAngel I would read MI first. Don't know exactly why, but I've heard from others that it take longer to get in the story from Clockwork Angel and it's also easier to start with MI 'cause some characters are in both. Don't know, I always tell friends to star with MI.
Guess the best would be if you join the group: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/5...
and ask there with which book you should start.

I read almost anything. Books of Sophie Kinsella, John Grisham, Jerry Spinelli, Sarah Dessen and a looot more <3

thanks, you are too nice :)

aw thanks & your welcome Tina ;)
ohh I see. And I definitely don't want to be confused with the stories, so I will definitely check that group out now :) Thanks for the link and tip, Tina.

hope you'll enjoy the group and take care, that you don't read any spoilers!! And write when you've started to read... (I'm curious how you like them)

yea, for sure ;)
& thanks, I'll be super careful :)

My name is Amy and I am so excited to have found this board! My guilty pleasure is reading YA books. I have so many friends that tease me about my little obsession (even though I have turned some of them to the YA book darkside). I am glad to see there are others out there who like this genre.
I HATED to read up until I hit about twelve when I read A Wrinkle in Time and that is when my reading obsession started (I then devoured all of Madeleine L'Engle's books and fell in love with Susan Cooper and Anthony Horowitz). Although I do read all types of books, I just enjoy YA books better. Of course I LOVED the Harry Potter books (they got me through 3 pregnancies where I was so sick I could not leave my bed). I also really enjoyed Twilight which I actually did not want to read until about a year ago when I just couldn't resist all the hype. Now I am on a sort of Vampire/ other worldly book hunt.
Anyway, I am writing a book here myself. I am just so happy to meet other book fanatics like me. Oh, I also wanted to thank you for some wonderful book suggestions (like the 'Fever Series', 'The Hunger Games', 'The Mortal Instruments' etc...). My bookshelf is now overflowing with books that this group has discussed and I am eagerly reading through.
Happy Reading!!!
Amy :o)

I wanted to introduce myself as well. I have been a member of goodreads for a while but not very active, but lately I have been reading a lot of YA lit and decided to come back. I am so glad I found this group!
My all time favorite book is pride and prejudice, which I consider YA classic because I read it in high school. :-)
I recently found hunger games and the poison study series and the are my recent favorites. I enjoy coming of age and realistic YA fiction but my favorite is fantasy YA fiction. I personally try to take breaks between my vampire novels but don't really have a reason why. ;-)

And Welcome! to everyone new. Good to have you here.

My name is Sofie. I've been a member of this group for a while now just haven't gotten around to do an introduction. As you can read in the first line I'm from Denmark and my obsession is reading english YA. so while you guys buy your books for next to nothing I'm paying overprice. buhu. my favourite series are The mortal instruments, Harry potter and yes Twillight (It got me started on YA. Haven't read it since I finished the series and don't plan to since I expect to be disappointed.)
so this is me.
(sorry about my bad grammar and spelling errors.)
have a nice day.

Melissa

Hi Sofie! One of things i love about this site is all the people you get to meet from all over the world! So great!

What other YA books have you really loved?

My name is Veronica Kelly and I just published my first novel (eBook), Don't Tell Your Cousin, available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I'm excited, yet nervous, lol.
Glad I joined!

My name is Tish and I just joined Goodreads quite recently. I was excited to find this group because I read quite a bit of YA fiction. I love to read all kinds of stuff, but I have an 11 year old son who is currently into YA fantasy and I like it when we can read the same things and talk about them. I was SO glad when his reading ability finally got good enough to read real books! Latest thing I read that I loved was the Chaos Walking series. I've already put several books on my to-read list based on discussions in this group.

I am Janet and I just joined this group. I have been hooked on YA fiction for several years. I volunteer in schools in grades 4-6 and love to keep ahead (if possible) of the students on reading the latest and greatest. Even if it isn't the "greatest" I like to know what they are jazzed about. I am always looking to add to my TBR list both for myself and my students.
