Miso Hime (misohime) | 18 comments Hi! I just joined this group. I was honestly a little hesitant when choosing a group to join, considering that I'm still a little behind with getting around GoodReads, but this looks like a nice place to start.

I go by the name 'Miso', I'm interested in YA books, although my preferred genre varies from time to time. I read practically everyday if I'm not busy.

In the past 3 days I've read 'Greta & the Goblin King', 'Spies & Prejudice', 'Unearthly', 'Hallowed', and now I'm currently reading 'Eve & Adamn'.

I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Mary Dawson | 3 comments Hi,

I'm the author of "The River Way Home: The Adventures of the Cowboy, the Indian, & the Amazon Queen” a historical adventure and coming-of-age tale that was recently named 2013’s Best Florida YA Book as well as Best Florida Adult Fiction by the Florida Authors and Publishers Association.

The Tampa Bay Library Consortium says, “…this lovely story is about Queenie, a young black girl, and her two young male friends, a Seminole Indian and a Florida cracker who get lost on a trip to Lake Okeechobee and have to find their way back. High ratings from the librarian judges in two categories!"

We’re currently doing a Goodreads Giveaway that ends November 13. Please enter. http://bit.ly/The-River-Way-Giveaway We'd love to have you review it.

LeeAnn Dennis I just joined this group and am looking forward to it! I love to read and have since a child. It is my all-time stress reliever. I love to curl up with my book and just read to my heart's content.

message 1454: by Prashant (new)

Prashant Chopra (prashchopra) | 5 comments Hi all,

I am Prash, the author of "The Eyes that Drowned Uyuni". Thanks for the invite, so great to be here:-)

The Eyes That Drowned Uyuni by Prashant Chopra

"I am here. All yours. In this moment. With no past, and an unknown future. I am here, with you, right now."

"Yes....", I had no clue where this was going.

"You, the keeper of my soul", she was looking straight into me now with her sharp, honest, and gullible eyes.

"Will you marry me?"

My heart stopped for an eternity.

I realized: my desire to own her, was no longer awake.

Suddenly, this was not an animal game anymore.

She was not a prey. And I was no longer a predator.

She was getting into me - through my eyes.

She could see me. She could feel me.

Knowing nothing about my fights, my love, my crusades, she was there - asking me an honest question.

She knew I couldn't say no.

Suni (nikassoh) 안녕하세요! I joined less than a minute ago and thought it polite to say hello before I start digging through threads.

I have been an avid reader since I was about five years old (I'm going to be 25 this year). I read a bit of everything, but I especially like YA because YA novels tend to be a bit more adventurous. I'm always looking for a new adventure.

I'm from New York, but I'm writing to you from a small town in South Korea (how's that for adventure?), where I teach kindie-middle school students and live in a one-room efficiency with a half-cat, half-Chinese forest cat I found on the street at three days old.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to getting to talk to you all. Happy Reading~

message 1456: by Chandler (new)

Chandler Ivanko | 2 comments Hello! I just joined recently as well! My name's Chandler, and I love reading young adult books, especially contemporary ones. I just published my first novel A Spontaneous Existence which I'm not trying to shamelessly promote (that's tacky!). I'm more excited to join the community rather than market my work.

message 1459: by Donna (last edited Feb 01, 2014 11:20PM) (new)

Donna (bibliocrazy) | 5 comments Hi everyone. My name is Donna. I just joined the group too. I've been reading YA for a long time as I started reading it when I was a Middle School Teacher and fell in love with it. I first joined another YA group but saw that most people in the group were quite young, and I felt reluctant to introduce myself and shock them with my age. I'm glad to see a group of adults reading YA literature. Some of the most recent YA books that I read were Legend,Prodigy, and Champion by Marie Lu. I really enjoyed this series.

message 1460: by M.J. (new)

M.J. Webb (mjwebb) Hi,
I'm Martin and I'm from the heart of England. I'm the author of a trilogy which was penned for my children. I've stopped writing now and can enjoy reading. I'll read pretty much anything but rather slowly, as my full time job and young family take up most of my time (can't remember what it's like to not feel tired?).
Best wishes all.

BooksWithMyCoffeeBlog | 1 comments Hey guys my name is Ashley and I really enjoy YA books. I have a blog where not only do I review YA books, I have posts on date ideas inspired by books. Recipes to go along with the book I am reading that week, and of course there will be giveaways. I really hope you guys check it out and like it =) http://bookstothetea.blogspot.com/

Krista (ex-libris) | 3 comments Hey, everyone! My name is Krista and I'm going to school right now to be a YA librarian, so I obviously love to read YA books. (And a lot of other things, but my first love is YA literature.) I'm really looking forward to being able to talk about YA books with people that love reading them as much as I do!

Horhay Pena | 7 comments Hello guys,

I am Jorge, I am currently enjoying all these young adult stuff. So I figured the best way to get more out of it is joining a group. I hope to meet my goal by end of the year nd hopefully move into different categories. Please feel free to add me as I'm still new to good reads.I am also a respiratory therapist , graduated in 2012. I am open minded about reading ,but at longest it's not a tuff read. Where I hav to constantly look up a word ever few sentences. :( one day I built up to that level.

Happy reading,

Jorge

message 1466: by MarcellineCazz (new)

MarcellineCazz Hello all. Just joining this group although I've been reading YA (and everything else) for years now. I'm a mother of three boys, two in college, one in high school and started reading YA as a way to find recommendations to encourage their reading years ago. I'm presently reading The 100 by Kass Morgan. I've had it on my kindle for a while, but the fact that it'll soon be a show on the CW tv network has pushed it up to the top of my list. I'm adamant about reading source material before watching a tv show or movie made from a novel. I'm just passed the half way mark and it's pretty good so far. Interesting premise, but I'm waiting to see where it goes from here.

I'm looking forward to checking out all your posts to see what recommendations are out there.

message 1467: by Dana (new)

Dana (bookworm630) | 11 comments Hey, I'm Dana and I'm 24. I like YA books about real life like what Ellen Hopkins writes about. I also like YA ghost stories. I'm from a small Northeast La. town about four hours north of New Orleans.

I look forward to finding new books to read and offering suggestions, too! :)

message 1478: by Horhay (new)

Horhay Pena | 7 comments Hey kristie!

Btw welcome to the group ,

message 1479: by S.K. (new)

S.K. Munt (wordwhisperer) Jorge I just finished book 2 and it's good- no utter tragedy yet. Looking forward to reading the 3rd but not running out to grab it.

message 1480: by Horhay (new)

Horhay Pena | 7 comments Thanks for the respond S.K. :),

These writers make it hard for readers. Sometimes. I think endings should match the amount of effort the main character put in. They deserve a good outcome after all they went thru. It's been a while I don't pick up a book like that.

I'm going to b puting invergent as one my upcoming reads than :)

message 1481: by S.K. (new)

S.K. Munt (wordwhisperer) I was so upset over Mockingjay. Still don't think I'll watch the movie though I loved the first 2 books and movies

message 1482: by Horhay (new)

Horhay Pena | 7 comments That was my response after a few days of finished reading the mocking jay. But who knows , Ill probably just watch it out of impulse :/. Bsides these trailer do a good job to lure you in . I just hope that the movie tries to put together something the author missed on doing. But I'm not going in there holding my breath :/.

Happy reading S.K.,

Jorge

message 1484: by Jan (new)

Jan | 1 comments Hi, everyone! I love to read and I was so glad to discover that it is okay to admit to reading and writing YA fiction. I've gotten strange looks from people when I admit to reading The Hunger Games or books from Tamora Pierce. Actually I blame my college age daughters for getting me hooked on YA. We started trading Tamora Pierce's books and having long discussions into the night about them. I published a YA paranormal book this year - Brush of Shade if you want to check it out. I can't wait to read what everyone has to say.

message 1489: by Miranda (new)

Miranda | 6 comments Ello lovelies! I'm Miranda and I'm 17....Not quite an adult I guess, but still I LOVE to read. I joined about half an hour ago and got on this site last October, but wasn't really active. Until now. I used to hate reading but my dad bribed me when I was 12. He promised me for each page I read I would be given a penny. So I read so much he ended up owing me almost $100. Honestly I never did see a penny of that money but I received a greater gift, the love of reading.

I started off reading adventure books, then went to romance, and now I read supernatural and dystopian genres. I can honestly say I am never not reading. About a year ago I started writing and now I am in the middle of 3 books. Haha! I might never finish them but I can at least say I tried. I'm glad to be in this group and look forward to sharing my opinions on extraordinary(or not so extraordinary)books.

message 1490: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina (smilyface) | 6 comments Hey guys! I'm Sabrina, and I'm 16. I play tennis, color guard, roller skating, and swimming. Other than physical activities, I like to knit, READ and write short stories, oh and mathhhhhh ;) I love making new friends and discussing books, anyone is open to add me. Really excited to be in this group! :)

message 1491: by Amy (new)

Amy (I'd Rather Be Sleeping) (secondhanddragon) | 2 comments Hey, everyone. I'm Amy and I'm 26. I love reading - both young adult and adult books. My favorite genre is fantasy, but I also adore sci-fi and steampunk. Besides reading I like playing computer games, writing, listening to music and playing with my two dogs and cat. I look forward to meeting people and making new friends as well as participating in this wonderful group.

message 1492: by M♡ (last edited Mar 15, 2014 06:04PM) (new)

M♡ (pumpkinguts) Hi y'all. I'm Melissa and I'm 28. I just finished Crandalls' Castle and I was thinking to myself- 'boy I sure wish there was a good group of people that like young adult fiction'. I happen to see your group in a discussion and knew I had to join straight away.

I also really love to read mysteries and urban fantasy but I'll give almost any book a try. I love talking books but sadly I don't have too many people to do that with. Hopefully I'll meet a few good ones here!

message 1493: by Isabella (new)

Isabella Modra (isabellamodra) | 3 comments Hey all, I'm Isabella Modra and I'm the author of Sci-fi romance novel Rouge Rouge (Rouge, #1) by Isabella Modra . I'm constantly looking for new groups and I was excited about a group of adults reading YA books, since that's what I write! I often find that more adults read and review my book more-so than young adults. It's exciting!!
But anyway, I hope to meet more people through this group and maybe discover more brilliant books as well :)

message 1494: by Cyndel (new)

Miranda - Life Between Chapters☕ (lifebetweenchapters) | 27 comments Hello everyone, I've been a part of this group for a while now but have never introduced myself. I'm terrible at talking about myself. I have always been a lover of the written word, however life just got in the way for awhile. Then in 2008 I picked up Twilight to see what all of the fuss was about, I immediately fell back in love with reading, especially YA. I love anything with a paranormal, sci-fi or fantasy twist, oh & a happy ending! BTW I almost forgot, I'm 32 years old, probably the oldest YA reader in the group! :P Feel free to send me a friend request!

message 1500: by Maria Ainslie Ines (new)

Maria Ainslie Ines (ainslieines) | 1 comments Hola! Im Ainslie, 27 yrs old from the Philippines. :) I started reading when I was in grade school and during that time I was digging on Sidney Sheldon, Nora Roberts kind of novels. Those were from my aunts' collection back then.

Im glad that in this generation we have a lot of choices to choose from plus we got Goodreads to talk about it and share with everyone!

Im looking forward to meeting you all and sharing as well!
