Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
Introductions

Hello group!
I love young adult fiction so much that I write it! My latest novel, Glimmers of Hope, is on sale now and if you are like me and an adult who loves YA, you will enjoy this book! It is about a young woman named Birdie who is headed into her first year of college but must first get through a summer working as a housekeeper for a wealthy couple who happen to be the parents of her highschool bully, Austen.
Birdie's story is an unexpected one, she grew up in the foster care system after being abandoned at a train station as a newborn. She has avoided falling in love in order to survive her difficult childhood but is now faced with her growing and unexpected feelings for Austen.
This story is about hope, love, and friendship. Read to follow Birdie on her journey of self-discovery!

I love reading and have a special place in my heart for YA. (Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Christopher Pike, anything John Green) I also love to write YA. I just finished the second novel in a series I'm working on. The books are born out of my passion for tv teen dramas (think Felicity, 90210, Dawson's Creek, etc)

I'd love to get to know other YA writers and share experiences, reviews, and just talk YA books in general.

hello, I'm Kira...new to the group...not new to the webpage.
I may not be a young adult anymore by age, but by heart I am. I LOVE ya books. Most of the books sitting on the bookshelves are YA.
I look forwarding to meeting new people, making new friends, and discussing books together.

My name is Erika, I’m Italian but I live in the US. I read in both languages. I read a lot of fiction and recently I read-discovered YA. It got so much better then when I was a young adult.
My favorite YA is the Six of Crow series by Leigh Bardugo.
I recently read the Caraval Trilogy, the Cruel Prince Trilogy and Started From Blood to Ash.
I’m currently reading Our Violent Ends, the sequel of These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong and I am absolutely loving it.
I read everything but self help and religious books. I mostly gravitate toward Fiction, especially historical.

I am 27, a phd student and rediscoverinf YA books for escapism :)
With that I also discovered that I love talking about the experiences and writing small book reviews!
I recently read books from Cassandra Clare, Dance of Thieves, Incendiary, The Night Circus, Daughter of Smoke and Bone... And I absolutely ADORED Six of Crows but was dissappointed by Shadow and Bone.
I am currently reading the sequel to The Wrath and the Dawn - which I also enjoyed very much!
I am really looking forward to discussions about all nbooks I read, whether I enjoyed the or not :) Feel free to send me a friend request if you like :)

I am also kind of new to this too. I love the Six of Crows duology. I had just finished it the other night.
I was thinking about The Cruel Prince trilogy. My friend had recommended it and she absolutely love it.

I'm Ken Schafer and I just wanted to shamelessly self-promote my new book Welcome to the Longest Run-On Sentence in the Entire History of the English Language: Or, how I saved my future by digging up my past now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
It is a skewed coming of age story told in the first person by the sixteen year-old Gwen, a thoroughly unreliable narrator, who weaves in everything from the business plan to building Stonehenge, to why physics makes it so difficult to get out of bed in the morning.
Her riffs on life, modern society, and the virtues of several kinds of chocolate take her through a journey of discovery, through both the mystery of who her father was, and the mysteries of her own emotions.
Check it out on Amazon where you can download the first five chapters for free!

The Secret Map of the Fairy Kingdom: A Chapter Book with Exciting Adventures for Kids
Once upon a time, Jack discovered an old map leading to the Fairy Kingdom. With his friends Rose and Iris, they faced challenges, battled creatures, and discovered the kingdom's secrets. Together, they saved the Fairy Queen's people and learned the power of making a difference.

Where is everyone?

Scott Bischke here. Long-time member of Goodreads, but only for the first time getting involved with Goodreads Groups, and new to this one. I'd love to find more folks to share reviews with.
About me (does anyone else who writes these intros just feel like writing, "Well, enough about me, let's talk about me!" ??): I love to read across a broad range of genres, but mostly I just love a great story! Here are a few genre's and examples that get me excited:
* YA / young adult (e.g., STARGIRL, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS ... For the record, I have never been crazy about the classification "Young Adult" since many, many of the books in the genre speak equally to adults. I'd love a better classification, something more like ... hmm ... even just the simplest change: how about "Young+Adult" books?);
* beautiful stories with a heart (TO DANCE WITH THE WHITE DOG)
* allegory &/or books with a lesson (ANIMAL FARM)
* classics -- love DON QUIXOTE, MOBY DICK, Steinbeck, Hemmingway, and on and on!
* true adventure, usually outdoors (LOST CITY OF Z)
... and many, many more
If my love of YA and interests beyond match yours let's share reviews! Please add me & let me know to add you.
A final note: I am also a Goodreads YA author -- I have posted about a giveaway and request for your input on my next book in the Author folder here.

I have just published my novel Hotel Acheron, about a young girl living in a world where magic is powered by Song. Her best friends are a celestial dragon, a masterchef faun, and a disheveled but well-meaning werewolf. Together they embark on a rescue mission inside a mysterious hotel.
They soon discover why folks enter, but rarely leave...
Anyway, be excellent to each other.

I started out writing short stories and poems and after two years of hard, but enjoyable work, published my very first novel, Clifford's War
(https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...)
It is a fiction/Action-adventure book about a Military Vet Private Investigator who was hired by the Mafia and forced to become a hitman. It is packed with action and has comedy sprinkled in to relieve the tension. :)
I would really like to hear what readers think of my book. So far I have received nothing but raving reviews and comments about it. Please add it to your list and follow/friend me.
Thanks a bunch, and I will see you all on the boards!
