Peep (Pop! Pop!) Only just now??

message 152: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am a slow learner.

message 153: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Does this mean I have become a better liar?

message 154: by [deleted user] (new)

What the heck are you guys doing in here???? I am gone for a day and look what happens!!!! I knew that Peep was a fellow Twilight lover (OK, maybe liker). I think we need to stick to talking about books we like instead of bashing books we don't like. *cough* HEIDI *cough* You are bad!!!! ;)

Shiver is a great book. It's very romantic and yet had a little bit of mystery/thriller element to it.

message 155: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Oh Shannen. You know we love you. :)

message 156: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I had your back Shannen.

message 157: by [deleted user] (new)

Heidi wrote: "Oh Shannen. You know we love you. :)"

I read The Help and loved it, didn't I?! Of course you love me! :)

message 158: by Heidi (new)

Heidi And you love both Peeta and Po. Which overrides everything!

message 159: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes I do and of course it does!

message 160: by Heidi (last edited Apr 11, 2010 06:33PM) (new)

Heidi p.s. Shannen - Peep is only trying to get your to switch to Team Gale. "I had you back my a**"

message 161: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Shannen, is it the idea of twilight or the actual book that you love? I can understand the Rob love, but if he hadn't played Edward would you look at twilight the same?

message 162: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) I liked the idea of Twilight the book. It is just not well executed. It does make reluctant readers read...

I didn't like the movie at all though. Rob didn't do anything for me. i like him in everything else, but not in Twilight.

message 163: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I'm of the same opinion Kellee. I loved the idea behind it, but I thought it was executed poorly. Mad props to Stephanie though for getting so many people interested in reading!

message 164: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Why do we always end up talking about Twilight in the random threads here?

message 165: by [deleted user] (new)

I read the Twilight series before the movies came out. My love for Edward was in place well before my love for Rob. I'm not overly critical when it comes to books. I truly read for entertainment purposes only so "fluffy" books are fun for me.

All teasing aside, I see nothing wrong with not liking a book and being critical of it, even Twilight. However, nobody wants to feel like they are unintelligent for liking a book. None of you make me feel that way because I know you all like to tease me and I can take the heat. I was in another group that had a thread asking people to list the books that made them cry. Anytime someone listed one of the Twilight books, certain people would rip them apart. It was really frustrating. Made me glad that I'm in this group because even though some of you may not like a certain book, you don't make someone feel bad when they like it.

Is that clear as mud? LOL!

message 166: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Awww Shannen, we won't do that to you! People just have different tastes so it's okay if someone doesn't end up liking a book you love and vice versa. They shouldn't make you feel bad if that happens.

message 167: by [deleted user] (new)

I know, Chachic. That's why I love it here. Like I said, I can take the teasing. :)

message 168: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I see we're having a kum-by-ya moment here. Hugs all around!

Anyway, if it starts to get annoying let us know, we'll find something else to tease you about.

I agree Bluemoon

message 171: by Jess (new)

Jess (jhuch) | 30 comments My most memorable English class will always be the one when I spent months arguing the merit of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn with my teacher. I tell my students if they really dislike a book that is a good thing- it means they actually care about what they are reading. I can only hope then they will find one they care about with the same passion:) I already love this group and check it everyday for the fantastic discussions!

Peep wrote: "I see we're having a kum-by-ya moment here. Hugs all around!

Not at all, Peep. Like I said, we all like to tease each other and I can take the heat. :)

message 173: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wow. What a love fest.

message 174: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, we know you love all the mushiness, Heidi!

message 175: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Shannen - I can't believe people on your other group personally attacked others for reading and loving certain books. I mean no matter what AT LEAST THEY ARE READING! So many people don't even do that. All the jabbing on hereis meant in good fun. I get bored. So sue me!

message 176: by [deleted user] (new)

I like the jabbing that goes on around here and my post wasn't directed at anyone here. Really. I left a YA group because people were so horrible about it. And it wasn't teasing. It seems that Twilight haters are just as devoted to hating it has Twilight lovers are to loving it. If I don't like a book, I really don't give it another thought.

Keep the jabs coming, Heidi!

message 177: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi wrote: "...So sue me!"

You should receive the documents in the mail within the next few days.

Hey Shannen it stinks that the other groups are so mean. I know it's been said before, but that's why I like it here. We gel just like Rob's hair.

message 178: by [deleted user] (new)

Unfortunately, I don't think that's gel in Rob's hair. I think it's just greasy. Haha!

message 179: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Gross!

message 180: by [deleted user] (new)

He likes to joke a lot about himself and is very self-deprecating. He has said that he doesn't have good personal hygiene. Don't know if he was just joking or not but makes no never mind to me. :)

message 181: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Sometimes he looks really nice and then others he looks nasty/dirty. I have never seen someone change so easily!

message 182: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll take him any which way!

message 183: by MissJessie (new)

MissJessie | 17 comments Hi!

I am new to this list--and love YA fiction.

Twilight series--liked it a lot, disliked New Moon tho and only skimmed it.

Rob --yummy, but needs a bath. Great smile though.

I think the Taylor kid is sexier, actually. But at 18 or so he's just eye candy.

You all seem like a nice group, not nasty like some other threads, and I hope to get to know you in the future.

Regards

message 184: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Welcome, Miss! Hope you like it here! :)

message 185: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Miss! We are a fun group and love to tease. No nastiness here! Welcome!

message 186: by MissJessie (new)

MissJessie | 17 comments Thanks!!!!!

message 187: by MissJessie (new)

MissJessie | 17 comments Is anyone here a librarian? Is it worth it?

message 188: by Alan (new)

Alan (coachmt) | 72 comments I have a couple of friends who are librarians Miss, one in New Jersey and one in Colorado, and they both seem to love it : )

With regards to bashing folks for their opinions, it's silly. If we all liked the same things, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

message 189: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Thanks for all the welcomes! The Hunger Games was AHmazing!! Currently reading Shiver. It's great so far as well. :)

message 190: by Roshini (new)

Roshini There are nasty threads?

message 191: by [deleted user] (new)

Not here, Roshini. I've seen some in other groups.

message 192: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Shannen wrote: "Not here, Roshini. I've seen some in other groups."

Yeah, I didn't think there were here. But I haven't come across any so I was surprised.

Thank you Jess! I love that perspective. I hope I never depreciate anyone personally just because they like something I don't. I grew up on debate and argumentative discussion. I like to see what the other side has to say and if they can support their argument and if someone can blow holes through mine, all the better.

Shannen, I really did love the idea behind twilight and I think Stephanie really opened up the genre for other writers. I also think she would do a lot better job writing the story if she went back and re-did it now, not that she can, but she's grown as a writer.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Roshini wrote: "There are nasty threads?"

Anything with Team Peeta is usually really nasty.

message 195: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Oh and welcome to the group Miss! Are you referring to a GR librarian or a real life librarian? I'm pretty sure that we have a middle school librarian here.

Anywho, even if I hate a book, I still try not to discourage people from reading them. I like to hear why someone liked or disliked a book because I know I can be pretty picky sometimes.

message 196: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Peep wrote: "Roshini wrote: "There are nasty threads?"

I think you mean Team Gale. Right? Those darn typo's!

message 197: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Welcome Miss :)

message 198: by Susan (new)

Susan I just wanted to stop in and say hello to all the newbies!! Oh yeah, we watched New Moon last night and I'm a fan of the books but this movie stunk! I loved the first one but New Moon was so slowwwwwww.......I'm still Team Edward and Team Peeta too-LOL!

message 199: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Hi everyone!

I'm 22 and absolutely love YA fiction. Some of my favorites are Shiver, Graceling, Fire, The Hunger Games, Uglies, Harry Potter, and Twilight (yep, I'm one of those Twilight fans, lol). During college I began to stray away from YA, but Twilight reintroduced me to the genre, and ever since reading it, I've been plowing through YA book after book. Right now I'm reading Maria V. Snyder's Study trilogy, and it's looking to be one of my all-time favorites. I'm picking up Fire Study from the library later today!

I love your discussions here. I've been lurking around this group for awhile now, so I thought it was about time to join in! :)

message 200: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome, Laura! Just looking at the list of your favorites, I know I'm going to like you. ;) I have the first Study book on my TBR list and am looking forward to reading it.
