Susan Yup said my membership was revoked....I mean, come on, I posted in the group but I guess she meant 20 times a day huh?? LOL whateva.....

message 302: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Wow, someone needs to take a chill pill and enjoy the ride. I'm glad your out of it Susan. More time for us!

message 303: by Susan (new)

Susan Thanks Becca.....I agree!

message 304: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Susan - we would never kick someone out of a group. That is crazy. Some people are loud mouths (not me of course) and some just like to sit back and read comments. Not to mention sometimes people actually have to take time to read the books we all talk about!

message 305: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments hahaha! well said Heidi. The days I don't read are the days I can afford to get 20 comments in.

message 306: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Wow that stinks that groups are like that. When my kids were younger I belonged to a stroller group that decided they didn't care for lurkers and imposed a mandatory post per month rule. I left when they did that. It's really dumb to assume that everyone else is the same. Sheesh. Some people enjoy reading what others say. Forcing someone to respond is crazy. We're not all talkers!! What's the group? I would like to join and get kicked out. Nicely, of course.

message 307: by [deleted user] (new)

Peep wrote: "I know, right? The epitome of sweetness, we are."

What, are you Yoda now?

I can't believe there are groups with mandatory minimum posts. We should all do what Bluemoon said and join the group! Haha! Glad you're with us, Susan!

message 308: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments I'm for it! Some people can't even handle little bits of power without being all dictatory. Down with the man!

Ha ha!!! What are you Yoda??? Classic!

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'm supposed to be sweet! Sheesh!!

Hey, I resemble that remark! ; )

message 313: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Bluemoon wrote: "Yoda is sweet ^_^

in a very smart-ish, funny kind of way"

I will take that as a compliment so thank you :)

message 314: by Susan (new)

Susan Okay well, I would love for you all to join and start some stuff and then leave but it is a secret group. It wont come up in a search of the groups even if I tell you the name of it! She had another group up for series readers and she closed it down because no one was posting! Jeez, get a life ya know?? Anyway, I'm not worried about getting thrown out of this group. With all my TEAM PEETA and TWILIGHT posts.......I'm covered with participating right? LOL--I LOVE THIS GROUP!!

There are secret groups on here? So weird! You would think that if you have to close your group or keep kicking people out of your group for not posting, you would figure out where the problem is. ;)

As far as I'm concerned, you have a lifetime membership (Team Twilight and Team Peeta)! Haha!

message 316: by Angela (new)

Angela (meowincat) Hello from Austin Texas. I'm Angela and I just joined this group today.

My favorite recently read YA books are The Hunger Games books and The Book Thief. Also love the Harry Potter books and stories by Neil Gaiman.

I can't stand the Twillight series, but I think that's because I'm hooked on the Sookie Stackhouse series & HBOs True Blood.

Goodreads is one of my very favorite websites! I love being able to keep track of what I've read.

message 317: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Welcome Angela! We are all big fans of HG here so you are in good company. Love Sookie! How is your patience holding up for the next one?

message 318: by Angela (new)

Angela (meowincat) Hi Jaimie-

I'm not too anxious for the next Sookie book, as I was very sick/out of work Jan-March and had the opportunity to read the series straight through. So, I've had lots of Sookie recently :) Although the addition of a cliffhanger in the last book has me curious.

Reading that series straight through has made me want to go back and read the Harry Potter books & Anne Rice's Witching Hour series straight through, but this is a much more daunting task.

I can't wait for the new Hunger Games!

message 319: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments See that would just make it worse for me! I started the series before the last two were released but read them back to back for the most part and it killed me waiting for new ones. Right now I am more anxious for the new BDB book.

message 320: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Welcome Angela! I love the Book Thief and the Hunger Games, and also dislike Twilight. Seems like we have a lot in common :)

message 321: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Yes we do have a lot in common! What would differentiate if you're more like Heidi or more like me is who you want Katniss to end up with. Team Peeta or Team Gale (who is the Yum in yummy!).

message 322: by Susan (new)

Susan PEETA PEETA PEETA!!! LOL

message 323: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Susan wrote: "PEETA PEETA PEETA!!! LOL"

I second that. Peeta Peeta Peeta!

message 324: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome, Angela! Can't wait to hear what team you're on. ;)

GO TEAM PEETA!

message 325: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Hi Angela, welcome to the group!! You seem to like all the books that are popular here. Pay no attention to those Team Peeta people, they obviously have issues!
GO TEAM GALE!

message 326: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Amen Peep!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I would like to second Becca's response...

Amen Peep!

Team Gale is where it's at!

message 328: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Woot!

message 329: by Susan (new)

Susan Team Peeta rules baby!!!

message 330: by Angela (new)

Angela (meowincat) I have to admit, I'm Team Gale

message 331: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments WOOT!!!

message 332: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Yes! Team Gale. Welcome Angela, my other new best friend.

message 333: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Double Ugh Angela. Can't we make a rule that we don't ask the new people what team they are on for at least a day? It is really hard to like them if they are Team what's his name, you know the character that is BARELY even in either book.

message 334: by Susan (new)

Susan hahaha ummm, who is that other guy anyway? You know we all love Peeta--ahhhh my hero!!!

message 335: by Angela (new)

Angela (meowincat) there's nothing wwrrroonngggg with Peeta. He just seems like boyfriend material while Gale seems more like husband material.

I am right there with ya Bluemoon! Gale isn't in the book much, but I wanted him to be! I was anxious to hear more about him and we never did. Peeta seems too weak for Katniss, but hopefully we will be decided after Catching Fire!

Really? You think Peeta is weak? I absolutely disagree. He's just strong in a different way than Katniss is. He's saved her life, being willing to give up his own on multiple occasions. He's also got the people skills that Katniss lacks. In a good relationship, each person has his/her own place. A Peeta more like Katniss wouldn't even be in the running for her heart. Too many cooks spoil the soup, you know.

It's hard to judge Gale accurately at this point, we haven't seen much of him for sure. But it's clear that Katniss has strong feelings for him and he for her. Still, I think it's hard to resist a man that loves you the way Peeta does. Selflessly. He has given up everything for her. And like Haymitch says, she could never deserve him. The real problem with Katniss and Peeta, in my humble opinion, is that she has been forced to love him in public. She hasn't been able to stop and really understand her own personal feelings for him and a girl like Katniss can't like being told what to do. The government has given Gale his biggest boon and his greatest competition.

Sorry for going on so long, Hunger Games is one of my all-time favorites. Only four months until the release of Mocking Jay!

I completely see your point that Peeta is strong in his own way, by being willing to forfeit his life for her. I think what ruined him for me was her feeling like he was holding her back while they were hunting instead of being an asset. That was so unattractive to me. I think a strong woman needs a man who is an equal and her skills far outshine his. I can see how Peeta is strong in his own way, but to me those strengths are not as attractive as Gales. Thats just my opinion so far, Catching Fire might completely alter it.

message 339: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Murphy | 96 comments Maybe. Gale is rugged and manly.

message 340: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments mmm I like rugged and manly. ;) lol

message 341: by [deleted user] (new)

Mandi - You summed it up very well. :)

Kourtni - The fact that Peeta held her back while hunting is what turned you off? But he has done so much to save her!

Team Gale - How can you love a character that is hardly written about?

Just some of my thoughts. ;)

message 342: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Murphy | 96 comments I see what you mean. Peeta has lived a much, much softer life than Katniss and Gale have. You see a little more of Gale in catching fire...but I think we will see a lot more of him in Mockingjay.

Shannen - Yep. That pretty much did it for me. And the fact that his greatest skill was cake decorating, which helped him with his camoflauging. It did make me laugh though. I like his character, he is endearing, but from what I've seen so far I just don't like him for Katniss. As for loving Gale, I don't know if I'd go that far as of now. But I like the idea of him and I really want to know more about him.

message 344: by [deleted user] (new)

I like the idea of Gale too and want to know more about him. With this series, I'm sticking with the theory of "opposites attract".

Haha, that's a sound theory. I'm so glad we can voice our opinions without creating bad mojo. :) Though I wonder where all the Gale lovers are now? No Love.

message 346: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments OH I am a Gale lover! I just feel like I am always trying to express that it doesn't mean I dislike Peeta or think that if she ends up with him it would be the end of my world but I think Gale is a better fit for her. Plus I am going back to grade school with this but he is hotter.

message 347: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Haha. I don't dislike peeta at all either! They're both great characters.

message 348: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Mandi - my thoughts exactly,Peeta is strong, just in a different way. Anyone that willing to sacrifice himself to save the love of his life should get some points. But, I think if I am being honest I like both guys and this is a hilarious controversy.

message 349: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Yes, very funny. I think my favorite argument was when I first joined this group and Peep was arguing to Heidi that Peeta was a gatherer, a gatherer! Gale is a hunter! Who needs bread when you can have protein rich meat?! I giggled for a long time on that one.

Good times Jaimie. Good times.
