Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
Introductions

Im all into Disney aswell. I buy all the movies i can find on dvd. My dad took me to disney world when i was a kid, and it was one of my best holidays ever.

My hubby and I are going to Disneyland in October. We go every year without kids. To be fair, our boys are almost 17 and 21 and DL isn't really their thing.
I used to have a whole bunch of Disney VHS tapes but they got ruined when our water heater leaked. Now, I need to start at the beginning and just start collecting them again. The Little Mermaid was my oldest son's favorite and The Lion King was my youngest son's fave. I don't have a favorite. I love the princess movies and all the newer Pixar movies. Meet the Robinsons and Up always make me cry.

Once upon a dream. That's a great song. The fairies were hilarious. Years later I saw a 'spot the hidden mickey' and it turns out that the cookie that was conjured by one of the fairies was in the shape of a mickey! Just a random snippet:-)

Becca, just out of curiosity, what are your favorite dragon books? :)

I love Enchanted! One of my favorite princess movies. We were at Disneyland when they introduced Giselle. They would play her song and drive her down Main Street in a horse drawn carriage. It was absolutely magical!

Chachic: I have not read the Temeraire books. I'm looking them up. The Pern books are great. I thought the story was very well put together. My favorite individual books were Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern and The White Dragon but the entire series is well worth reading or listening to. The audio's are really well done and I enjoyed them immensely.

I never saw WALL-E I just wasn't overly excited about it. Ratatouille was great, but I'd have to go old school and say my fav Pixar films are Toy Story and Monsters Inc.

Toy Story was excellent. Was Finding Nemo Pixar? I liked that too. I loved Wall-E! I gave it a 5 star on Netflix. I just keep thinking of Eve saying Wall-E.

There are too many wonderful Pixar movies: Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Wall-E, Finding Nemo, Meet the Robinsons, The Incredibles and Up.
I love a lot of the old school Disney movies too: Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, Peter Pan and Bambi. Some of the great not-so-old ones that I love are Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Mulan and Tarzan.

I LOVED Enchanted! My little SIL's love it, too. We all have a singfest when we get together. My hubby's favorite song (and one of mine) is How do you know (the one they sang in the park).
I also liked Cars, Finding Nemo, and Monster's Inc.

I didn't like it. I think it was way overhyped so I had high expectations that weren't met.

Ha! I thought this was the Movies thread. I had to check and make sure. Sorry!!

I loved the songs in Enchanted too! I think I watched it twice in the movie theater. My friends and I were singing outside the theater after we watched it, good thing there weren't a lot of people around then.

I would love to see Disney/Pixar come out with a great 3D movie. I'm lovin the stuff that's come out lately in 3D since Avatar (which is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever scene scenery-wise).

I haven't seen a 3D movie lately, even Avatar (which is the only movie I have wanted to see in 3D) partially because they make me sick, and partially because I would have to drive about an hour and go visit Jaime to get to the nearest theater to see one.
So Avatar aside (which I heard is AMAZING in 3D) is it really worth all the hype and extra money? I'm actually disappointed Harry Potter is going to be in 3D. I thought the franchise was above jumping on the bandwagon for that kinda stuff.
They are doing the last (last 2) Harry potter movies in 3D?..

The 3D in Avatar was extremely subtle in parts, but it made you feel like you were actually in the air craft, or running around Pandora. It was exhilarating. I don't think 3D is for every movie, but the 3D versions of those two were incredible. I'm planning on seeing Alice in Wonderland in 3D too since I've heard the scenery and stuff is on par with the other amazing movies that have come out lately.

Damn wth..dont really see the point in that ;p ill probably see it in 2D..
I have seen Alice in Wonderland in 3D and I have seen Avatar at a regular theater AND in 3D. Quite frankly, I think 3D is overrated. I have been to the 3D shows at Disneyland and Universal Studios and some of the objects just fly at you but we didn't experience this with Alice or Avatar. It just seemed like the landscape came out from the screen. Maybe I'm just expecting too much. I would really like to see How to Train Your Dragon in 3D because I'm thinking that an animated movie will have more wow factor with the 3D than a regular movie. I'm interested to hear what others say.
I agree with you too Shannen. I saw avatar, alice in wonderland and clash of the titans in 3D and it wasnt as good as disneyworld and universal studios

Why is that?! Is it because the ones at the theme parks are made so that things jump out at you?

Probably. Cuz not animated movies arent really made to "jump out of the screen" since they also do them in 2D, and its not animated. They probably cant do it so advanced when "real" things and ppl are in yet. I pesonally didnt find the movies i saw in 3D, specially not clash of the titans any special in 3D, so i might as well have paid a normal price to see them in 2D
