Yes it is! Love the music!

Chachic Ooooh snowglobes! I wish we had snowglobes here.

message 403: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I always loved Sleeping Beauty because of the dragon (did I mention I'm obsessed with dragons?) and because the songs are wonderful. The fairies crack me up.

message 404: by [deleted user] (new)

Im all into Disney aswell. I buy all the movies i can find on dvd. My dad took me to disney world when i was a kid, and it was one of my best holidays ever.

message 405: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I think my favorite disney song is "Be a Man" in Mulan. I used to listen to it for hours, lol. I also adore all the music in Aladdin. The genie's song in that is stinking funny if you really listen to the lyrics.

My hubby and I are going to Disneyland in October. We go every year without kids. To be fair, our boys are almost 17 and 21 and DL isn't really their thing.

I used to have a whole bunch of Disney VHS tapes but they got ruined when our water heater leaked. Now, I need to start at the beginning and just start collecting them again. The Little Mermaid was my oldest son's favorite and The Lion King was my youngest son's fave. I don't have a favorite. I love the princess movies and all the newer Pixar movies. Meet the Robinsons and Up always make me cry.

Roshini Bluemoon wrote: "I love their songs too! The song in Sleeping Beauty has always been stuck in my head ever since I watched it and would occasionally sing it. The one that Aurora and Prince Philip sings when they me..."

Once upon a dream. That's a great song. The fairies were hilarious. Years later I saw a 'spot the hidden mickey' and it turns out that the cookie that was conjured by one of the fairies was in the shape of a mickey! Just a random snippet:-)

message 408: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Did you guys enjoy watching the movie Enchanted? I really liked that one because it reminded me of the Disney princesses movies plus it looked like Disney was making fun of itself with some of the references.

Becca, just out of curiosity, what are your favorite dragon books? :)

message 409: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I adore the Eragon series. They are my favorite of my life so far followed closely by Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher. I also love the Dragon Riders of Pern series, The Hobbit, Dragon Champion series (which I haven't finished yet), and Pillage by Obert Skye, which wasn't half bad for a children's book. Basically I love all dragons, but those are some good ones off the top of my head.

message 410: by [deleted user] (new)

I love Enchanted! One of my favorite princess movies. We were at Disneyland when they introduced Giselle. They would play her song and drive her down Main Street in a horse drawn carriage. It was absolutely magical!

message 411: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Have you read the Temeraire books? I've only read the first two and really liked them. I think I have some Dragon Riders of Pern books, one of the trilogies, but I haven't gotten around to reading them yet.

message 412: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Bluemoon: I haven't read it, but I saw the movie. I didn't know there was a book! I'll have to look into it. The movie was awesome though.

Chachic: I have not read the Temeraire books. I'm looking them up. The Pern books are great. I thought the story was very well put together. My favorite individual books were Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern and The White Dragon but the entire series is well worth reading or listening to. The audio's are really well done and I enjoyed them immensely.

message 413: by Heidi (new)

Heidi This conversation is way to girlie for me.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Well you Disney lovers (I'm one too) will be glad to hear that I just got UP from Netflix. I haven't seen it yet but I've heard great things!

message 415: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Up is not girlie, but it was really cute.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Someone described it to me as "best Pixar film to date" after that I just had to see it.

message 417: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I don't know about that! I loved Wall-E and Ratatouille story wise, but visually Up was the best.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments maybe I'll watch it tonight after the re-run of LOST. (We all have our addictions, LOST happens to be one of mine)

I never saw WALL-E I just wasn't overly excited about it. Ratatouille was great, but I'd have to go old school and say my fav Pixar films are Toy Story and Monsters Inc.

message 419: by Heidi (new)

Heidi p.s. This is the intro page, so any new people, please don't be intimidated by our ADHD!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I guess we could move it over the movies thread (since you and I are already chatting over there), but where's the fun in that?

True :)

message 422: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I pretty much adore pixar movies. Up was great, Toy Story 1 and 2 are regulars at our house and I LOVE Monsters Inc. and Ice Age 1. Those two are some of my all-time favorite movies.

Toy Story was excellent. Was Finding Nemo Pixar? I liked that too. I loved Wall-E! I gave it a 5 star on Netflix. I just keep thinking of Eve saying Wall-E.

message 424: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments My husband was bored to death with Wall-E, but I thought it was really cute and quite interesting. My niece and nephew watched it like six times a day when it first came on video, so you know it held some kind of fascination for kids.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Yes! Finding Nemo is pixar. I forgot about that one. It's great too! I didn't know Ice Age was Pixar. I'm pretty sure it's not Disney, but pixar? maybe.

message 426: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ice Age was made by Blue Sky Productions & 20th Century Fox. But I loved that too. Becca - Wall-E was slow to start, but I thought it was so sweet and had a great story.

message 427: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I LOVED Wall-E. He was sooo cute!

message 428: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 27, 2010 01:24PM) (new)

There are too many wonderful Pixar movies: Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Wall-E, Finding Nemo, Meet the Robinsons, The Incredibles and Up.

I love a lot of the old school Disney movies too: Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, Peter Pan and Bambi. Some of the great not-so-old ones that I love are Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Mulan and Tarzan.

message 429: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I truly love how ADHD we all are on here with our threads!

message 430: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I love Pixar films too! I can't even pick a favorite. Hmm maybe Up and Wall-e because they're both so good. I hope they come up with a full 3D movie soon. I watched Up in 3D but only a couple of scenes were in 3D, not like How To Train Your Dragon, where the whole movie was made for 3D.

I LOVED Enchanted! My little SIL's love it, too. We all have a singfest when we get together. My hubby's favorite song (and one of mine) is How do you know (the one they sang in the park).

I also liked Cars, Finding Nemo, and Monster's Inc.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Brittany wrote: "Well you Disney lovers (I'm one too) will be glad to hear that I just got UP from Netflix. I haven't seen it yet but I've heard great things!"

I didn't like it. I think it was way overhyped so I had high expectations that weren't met.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi wrote: "p.s. This is the intro page, so any new people, please don't be intimidated by our ADHD!"

Ha! I thought this was the Movies thread. I had to check and make sure. Sorry!!

message 434: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Peep, I had a similar moment! When I was reading the YA Romance thread, I thought I was in the Disappointing Books thread.

I loved the songs in Enchanted too! I think I watched it twice in the movie theater. My friends and I were singing outside the theater after we watched it, good thing there weren't a lot of people around then.

message 435: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I LOVE Cars! I would have to say the humor in that movie was so intelligent that it was a joy to watch. And Mater is too dang endearing. I love that truck!

I would love to see Disney/Pixar come out with a great 3D movie. I'm lovin the stuff that's come out lately in 3D since Avatar (which is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever scene scenery-wise).

message 436: by Alan (new)

Alan (coachmt) | 72 comments Incredibles. Best. Movie. Ever. /end post

message 437: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments LOL! I love that one too and occasionally watch it by myself. Dash and Violet crack me up big time.

message 438: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I loved the Incredibles too!

message 439: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Oh! I forgot about the Incredibles! I can't believe I forgot that one. My favorite part was when the villain (I forgot his name) but he says something along the lines of "Oh, I can't believe you caught me while monologuing." Loved it!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I'm trying, I didn't get around to it last night b/c (you'll never guess) I was on the GR website.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Okay, so I have a question about this 3D movie craze. Is it really all it's cracked up to be?? I've seen a few movies in 3D way back in the day, but honestly they tend to mess with my head and I feel like I'm getting motion sickness. Same thing happens with IMAX/OMNIMAX theaters.

I haven't seen a 3D movie lately, even Avatar (which is the only movie I have wanted to see in 3D) partially because they make me sick, and partially because I would have to drive about an hour and go visit Jaime to get to the nearest theater to see one.

So Avatar aside (which I heard is AMAZING in 3D) is it really worth all the hype and extra money? I'm actually disappointed Harry Potter is going to be in 3D. I thought the franchise was above jumping on the bandwagon for that kinda stuff.

message 442: by [deleted user] (new)

They are doing the last (last 2) Harry potter movies in 3D?..

message 443: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments The new 3D technology is leaps and bounds beyond anything that was produced with the older technology. I have really enjoyed the 3D aspect of some of the movies I've seen in it. I think it will depend on the movie but Avatar and How to Train Your Dragon were worth every penny I paid beyond the regular price to see them in 3D.

The 3D in Avatar was extremely subtle in parts, but it made you feel like you were actually in the air craft, or running around Pandora. It was exhilarating. I don't think 3D is for every movie, but the 3D versions of those two were incredible. I'm planning on seeing Alice in Wonderland in 3D too since I've heard the scenery and stuff is on par with the other amazing movies that have come out lately.

message 445: by [deleted user] (new)

Damn wth..dont really see the point in that ;p ill probably see it in 2D..

message 446: by [deleted user] (new)

I have seen Alice in Wonderland in 3D and I have seen Avatar at a regular theater AND in 3D. Quite frankly, I think 3D is overrated. I have been to the 3D shows at Disneyland and Universal Studios and some of the objects just fly at you but we didn't experience this with Alice or Avatar. It just seemed like the landscape came out from the screen. Maybe I'm just expecting too much. I would really like to see How to Train Your Dragon in 3D because I'm thinking that an animated movie will have more wow factor with the 3D than a regular movie. I'm interested to hear what others say.

message 447: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree with you too Shannen. I saw avatar, alice in wonderland and clash of the titans in 3D and it wasnt as good as disneyworld and universal studios

message 448: by [deleted user] (new)

Louise wrote: "I agree with you too Shannen. I saw avatar, alice in wonderland and clash of the titans in 3D and it wasnt as good as disneyworld and universal studios"

Why is that?! Is it because the ones at the theme parks are made so that things jump out at you?

message 449: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments You probably weren't impressed because the 3D is subtle. I like that about it. It isn't messing with your head, it's adopting to how you usually see the world and making you apart of the world the movie is about. I think it's a really cool experience to be apart of the movie without the "in your face" 3D I've seen in older technology.

message 450: by [deleted user] (new)

Probably. Cuz not animated movies arent really made to "jump out of the screen" since they also do them in 2D, and its not animated. They probably cant do it so advanced when "real" things and ppl are in yet. I pesonally didnt find the movies i saw in 3D, specially not clash of the titans any special in 3D, so i might as well have paid a normal price to see them in 2D
