Challenge: 50 Books discussion

I am new to this group, and plan to start a list for 2010. I managed to read 33 books in 2009, and am going to try hard to get to 50 next year. I like classics, philosophy, and British mysteries. One goal for 2010 is to read all of Elizabeth Gaskell's major works that I haven't already.

Welcome Badlydone! I hope to read Gaskell, too. I saw the movie adaptation of North & South, and it was amazing, so surely the book is infinitely better!
