I don't know if this message is in the right place. The moderator can delete it. I just wanted to share an email that a sister from church has emailed me and other, regarding a new virus. It might can help someone on here.

HUGE VIRUS COMING ! PLEASE READ & FORWARD !

Hi All,

I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!
I checked Snopes, and it is for real. Get this E-mail message sent around to all your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,'regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C drive of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address on his/her contact list. That is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it!

If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even if it is sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN.

It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

Thanks for warning us Arch,these two sound really scary and I am tired of computer problems,I`ve had 3 or 4 crashes lately and lost a lot of info,and I sure don`t need an icky virus .

I read the snopes article and this is a massive exaggeration.

Kathy Anne, I have posted the email, because it was my first time getting the email. I know that I don't like my computer to have a virus.

People have replied to other areas that I have posted the warning and stated to me that the email is a hoax. Someone was even flat out rude to me on Amazon, because I have posted the warning on Amazon.

Yet, no one has directed me to anywhere on the internet, where anyone or more than one person has claimed to have received the "subject email" and they opened it and nothing happened to their computer.

I could be wrong, but people that are trying to turn people away from my virus alert thread - probably wouldn't open the "subject email" if they received it, even if it's from one of their family members.

I'm taking this warning serious.

If I got it I would not open it,I`ve had enough computer problems lately and don`t need a virus.
You put it up in good faith Arch to help people-and we all should know this is the worst time imaginable for viruses and hackers-so those people can pay attention or not,you did your best.

Hoax or not it serves to remind us to be aware, thanks Arch.

I want to say this as well. I wonder if the people that's going around saying it's a hoax, have clearly read that the Hallmark Postcard virus is really a virus. It may not be a big virus, but it's still a virus. It may not shut down your computer as the warning email says, but a virus is still a virus. It can make your computer sick and I don't like my computer to be sick.

It sounds like you actually did some research on this before posting this. However, understand, that a lot of people don't and just post every single Forward they get to whatever message board will let them. It gets old quick and feels a lot like spam, so that's why you may have gotten the responses you did.

Did you take the time out to read anything that I have said in this thread?

Can you tell me how many emails that I have received that I have posted on groups.

There's a reason why I am asking you these questions. Just ask me my reason and I will give it to you.

Did you read my message? I particularly mentioned that you seemed to have approached this forward differently but nobody would know that just based on your initial. Anytime ANYBODY posts a forward on a message board they are going to get a number of negative responses based on the large number of false alarms going around.

How many other people have you came across that have posted an warning email on groups that you are on?

This was my first time, in all the years that I have been on the internet.

And as for me knowing beforehand about the virus, I didn't. I've gone to the site that someone posted for me to go look at.

Still, there was no harm in me posting the warning. A virus is stil a virus.

I cap for emphasis. I didn't question your reading compentency.

I have been on the internet for 15 years and this sort of posting does happen and people do get the same sort of response you did. Some even get flagged for spam.

I never said I had a problem with you posting. I was simply explaining the reaction you got on the other message boards you mentioned.
