If you're like me you've got so many books you want to read and between group reads, challenges and new releases it's hard to keep it all straight! A long time ago I resorted to creating a list of books I wanted to read each month so I wouldn't forget.

I thought it would be fun for us to share our lists, see if anyone is reading the same thing as us or remind each other of new releases that we'll be reading this month.

I'm not sure if this will replace our 'CURRENTLY READING' thread yet or not. We'll see how it goes. That thread is getting HUGE!

Lily (lilithesque) Ah, I loved UNDONE. Maybe even more than the the weather warden series. Maybe cause I like the secondary charicters better. (I'll give you a hint--yum).

The Van Alen Legacy by Melissa de la Cruz
Soulless by Gail Carriger
The Dream Thief by Shana Abe
Pleasure of a Dark Prince by Kresley Cole
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Captivate by Carrie Jones

message 5: by Lily (new)

Lily (lilithesque) Current Books or books on my shelf from the library, or on order:
Darkness Calls (Hunter Kiss, #2) by Marjorie M. Liu
Howling Legion (Skinners, Book 2) by Marcus Pelegrimas
Canticle (The Psalms of Isaak, #2) by Ken Scholes
First Lord's Fury (Codex Alera, #6) by Jim Butcher
The Second Chronicles of Amber (Books 6 - 10) by Roger Zelazny
Kushiel's Mercy (Kushiel's Legacy, #6) by Jacqueline Carey

There are a couple more, but I can't remember them off the top of my head and I am busy watching the dr who marathon so I am not going up. I'll add them later. List partial list gives the idea I am kinda on a sci fi jag right now--with some urban fantasy stirred in to keep it movin.

Paula (pauldajo) Shanon, please let me know how The Gargoyle is via audiobook. I read the book and some of the scenes were overwhelmingly graphic. For me the audiobooks make a huge impact when describing intense actions. Excellant book.

Kat Holmes (katholmes) | 3 comments Ever since I first got contracted I've been finding it harder and harder to find time to read. And of course, now that I'm nearing release date I'm also knee deep in promotions. So, I've decided for now to stick with the authors and series I have been most looking forward to. When I have more free time I'll get back to trying new stuff again. And every weekend, I'm determined to read one book. That's my New Year's resolution. I'm about to start a vampire book that I have been eagerly waiting for.:-)

So far (chapter 4) it has been pretty graphic and I've found myself crinkling my nose a lot and wincing. That says a lot since i have a pretty tough stomach! I've wished I could skim over some of the descriptions of pain or suicide like I could with reading - but the way the story is told works VERY well with an audiobook!

Congrats on the upcoming release date Kat! I'm sure you're excited.

YAY for reading Year of the Flood Kathryn! I'm excited to see what you think of it!! It's been a couple days since I finished and I have been finding myself missing the characters.

I'm reading Dark Slayer right now. I'm only about 50 pages in but it's good so far.

Paula - I just noticed you've finished 2 books already this month! Good Job! You're list isn't going to be long enough to last all month at that rate

message 17: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) Shanon, I was thinking the same thing. I've added a few more.

What did you think of The Drowning City?

Jennifer (jnhart) Shanon wrote: "What did you think of The Drowning City?"

At first, I wasn't too into it. I just wanted to hurry up and get done so I could read one of my other library books. But the more I read, the more I liked it. In fact, I'm now planning on continuing with the series. Not sure how many books there are, at least 1 more for sure. It's supposed to come out sometime this year.

Howling Legion (Skinners, Book 2) by Marcus Pelegrimas Pretty good, yet liked the first book in series better.

Canticle (The Psalms of Isaak, #2) by Ken Scholes It is still on my beside

First Lord's Fury (Codex Alera, #6) by Jim ButcherStill on order

Bad Blood (Crimson Moon, Book 1) by L.A. Banks I liked this one way more than her Vampire Huntress books.

Blood Cross (Jane Yellowrock, #2) by Faith HunterLOVED IT-- REALLY

message 23: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I won't be able to finish White Witch, Black Curse in January. I'm a little irritated with the book. I don't like books that are over 550 pages. I read Bone Crossed in two days. Now that book is 287 pages and Patricia Briggs was able to tell a good story.

I remember I had a hard time reading White Witch, Black Curse as well. Not because of the length but there is just SO much that happens in the book that I had a hard time figuring out what the main point was going to be. I also hadn't read the two short stories that were related so that added extra frustration. By the end it was all worth it though.

message 25: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I don't think I'll give up on White Witch, Black Curse, but the book is going to lay idle for a while. Shanon, I agree that there is so much happening. I don't know whether I like or dislike all the short stories hanging around. If the short stories deny me needed knowledge on an established series, I'm against them. If the short stories adds information on satellite characters, then I enjoy them.

Agreed 100%! I love that Rachel Caine puts her short stories online for both her Morganville Vamp & Weather Warden series. No need to buy/find an anthology for one story. I've read all the Weather Warden and only one is important - but it provides more background info than anything.

message 27: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I read the Weather Warden series, but I didn't know about the short stories online. I'll be heading to Rachel Caine's site soon.
