If you can get past the author's and the characters' arrogances it's a somewhat interesting plot and mystery until people start putting the pieces together. Alot of the pieces and clues even the reader doesn't get to see until the characters solve the puzzles and are explaining how they got there. It's a little annoying when you're trying to be an active reader trying to keep up with what the characters know and figure out the mystery yourself when, com to find out, you were missing crucial pieces. I think Carter needs a little more practice with this genre to get it right.

I did it! And the book was pretty good too.

Congratulations on making 50! And you have time to add to that total.

Wow, very difficult to get through, watching all the dysfunction and abuse, but I'm glad I read it. Very sobering.

Not my favorite work by him, but then again I don't care much for soccer, and I know next to nothing about English soccer. So, go figure.

Kate (klc23) | 127 comments 56. The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver

For some reason, Barbara Kingsolver has always intimdated me. I don't know why. I finally got around to reading her for the first time, and I loved it. Now I'm really looking forward to reading more of her works. I love it when I find a new (to me) favorite author!
