Mark If you haven't read Bless Me, Ultima, I highly recommend. This may end up being my favorite book this year. It's going to be hard to beat.

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments I would be interested in reading a book together but I have soooo many books to read as is :( How many books do you own, Mark? How about you, Kelsie? Kelsie- I know you have a Kindle! What about you, Mark? I am a huge book enthusiast so I do not own a Kindle or Nook, and do not have a desire to own one!

Wow, that's awesome that you found a book that you like so much, Mark! I gotta put it on my to read list!!

message 103: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Kristin, I own a Kindle but I purchase "regular" books too. :) Especially if I really like the book, I'll make sure I have a physical copy to display on my bookcase. I've been buying more "regular" books lately through Amazon now that I have a house instead of a sketchy apartment for UPS to deliver to, lol. :)

So I'm changing my mind about Matched! I was into it until 3/4 of the way through when I became meh about it. I almost bought the rest of the series but now I'm in no rush to finish.

message 104: by Mark (new)

Mark I do own an ereader. I have the Nook and the iPad, but I like the Nook much better for reading. I do have a ton of books to read as well. After I made the suggestion of reading together, I realized my reading list is quite full. I also belong to another group that I read classics with from time to time. And I'm starting a kids' reading club for my nieces, to direct their education a little. So I think I've got my reading list pretty full.

Any must-read suggestions for 11 year-old-girls?

message 105: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Going to start Gone Girl tonight! Want to see what all of the hype is about :)

Kelsie- I wasn't going to look into read books 2 & 3 of the Matched series, but my friend Michele is going to let me borrow them lol. She really liked Matched...I thought it was ok. I feel like it copied the Hunger Games series a bit :-/

Mark - When I was 11, I used to love reading Goosebumps, Fear Street, Dear Diary books, and anything by Lurlene Mcdaniel! Quite a variety :)

message 106: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Mark - the Dear America series was always a favorite at age 11.

Kristin - How is Gone Girl so far? It's probably expensive (for a Kindle book) because of all the hype! I'm reading Looking for Alaska (my first John Green read) and it's kind of disturbing!

message 107: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Gone Girl is OK so far- I am 100 pages in and can tell the main characters are in a disastrous relationship lol. Not sure what will happen!!

I've never read John Green before!

message 108: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments I'm in a depressing book rut lol! I've read so many books recently about kidnappings, missing people, death, etc...I am going to need an uplifting story soon!!

message 109: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Hi! How is everyone's reading going?

Oh wow! You switched your book challenge from 35 to 50? Mine is still at 35 and I'm 5 books ahead. Maybe I will bump up my goal?

message 112: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Yea!!! Once I was at around 20 books, I felt like I could keep going strong haha

message 113: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Crazy to think that I read 31 books last year in total..I am on book 32 right now!!! :-o

message 114: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Kristin, you are doing awesome this year! Congrats!

I'm still 4 books ahead but I need to keep up the pace! I've had wedding brain lately (dress shopping!) and house brain (furniture coming this week, painting the bedroom) going on.

Can't wait for vacation and a week of reading! :)

message 115: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Thank you!!!! I am on a roll and can't stop :) I try and read at lunch and before bed each night! I find that I read the most if I just have one weekend day open haha

I am hoping to get to 52 books this year!!!

message 116: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Kristin,

Bad Bridesmaid Bachelorette Brawls and Taffeta Tantrums--Tales from the Front Lines by Siri Agrell

MY LIFE.

Hahaha, just kidding. I still love that book. :)

message 117: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments LOL Kelsie!!! Nooooooo don't let it be soooo :-D

message 118: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Kristin,

You read The Fault in Our Stars, right?

Remember when I tried to be an extra in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but they filmed during my work hours?

Well, the casting agency still sends me e-mails & I just found out Pittsburgh is portraying Amsterdam in The Fault of Our Stars movie! Interesting!!

message 119: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Yes!!! Wow, that is crazy! I think the movie will be better than the book..I didn't really care for the book :-/

message 120: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments The Ted Bundy book took me almost a month to read! I savored it...hahaha

message 121: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Kristin, I was wondering! Lol! I've kind of been on a roll. :)

message 122: by Mark (new)

Mark Both of you are on a roll. I'm getting into reading again. Summer is always busy. I started three books and haven't finished them, but I'm on my way now. Maybe I'll make the goal for the year. I can't even remember what I set it to.

message 123: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Kristin, I've been thinking of some additional questions I want to add to our end-of-year book meme. I think I'm going to revise it before it's time for us to post!

message 124: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Ok!!! Maybe I will use your copy then :)

message 125: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Kristin, I'm only 56% through, but I'm so captivated by The Tragedy Paper. I see it's on your to-read shelf. You must get to it!!

message 126: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Wow, really!!! I must read then :)

message 127: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments I am reading books #44 and #45 right now!!! Hope I can get to 50 by 2014!!!!

message 128: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Way to go!!! :) I'm trying for 40+.

message 129: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments I can't believe I did it, but I read 50 books this year!!

Happy 2014, HAPPY READING!

message 130: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Congratulations again on your 50!

Happy 2014 reading! Here we go!

message 131: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Thank you!!!

Happy 2014 :-D

Creepy first look at the Gone Girl movie!

message 133: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Weird ! I thought Reese Witherspoon was cast as the wife !

message 134: by Mark (new)

Mark I'm sorry to say I'll be leaving the group. I have a huge workload this year, and will probably not be able to contribute as much again this year.

Best of luck on your reading and finding great books to drown in...

message 135: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Aww sorry to hear it Mark! Best of luck to you!!

message 136: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments How is Divergent?

message 137: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments It's OK! I'm 100 pages in and although it's a quick read, it's nothing to write home about yet. I'm not overly impressed.

message 138: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Have you ever tried an audiobook? I know you aren't in the car much, but they can be handy while doing housework.

message 139: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Nope! I usually listen to music/sing while I clean! Our apartment layout is perfect for cleaning- kitchen is near bathroom, so I clean both in one fell swoop, and pretty quickly!!! I don't think I would be able to focus on an audiobook!!

message 140: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Kelsie- you may hit 50 books this year lol!! If you're on book 25 in June, you have a good chance!

message 141: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Kristin wrote: "Kelsie- you may hit 50 books this year lol!! If you're on book 25 in June, you have a good chance!"

This is confusing to me since it's wedding year, but I am flying through books pretty quickly!

message 142: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Impressive!!!!

message 143: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Kelsie, you MAY make it to 50 books this year! Go girl go!!

I'm 7 books behind schedule :( I gotta pick it up!!!

message 144: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments I wonder how much reading I'll get done on our honeymoon? There will be lots of beach and pool time so I should bring a couple books, I think!

How do you decide which book to read next? Are you a mood reader or do you have a system for picking your next book?

message 145: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Yes! Bring a couple of books for sure :) I'm heading to Wildwood this weekend and bringing a few books!

I have a list of all of my books typed up on LJ in ABC order by author. I tell Steven to pick a number and that typically decided my next book haha!
http://happygolucky88.livejournal.com...

If I borrow a book or if a movie base don a book is coming out soon, I let them take precedence!

How about you?

How abo

message 146: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Changed my 2014 reading goal to 35...more obtainable! I'm still 4 books behind though, boo.

message 147: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments I just changed mine from 32 to 35. I am 8 books ahead... maybe I should bump it up more? NOT looking forward to all the work that's waiting for me in my office after our trip. My 30 minute lunch/reading break is going to be my only savior to get me through this next week, lol.

message 148: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments Good luck getting back into the routine!!

I am traveling a lot for work this month so maybe I'll get a lot of reading time in on the flights and in hotels!!

message 149: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (gar0190) | 171 comments Traveling provides a great opportunity to read! However, I started One Good Friend Deserves Another in the Florida airport and couldn't get into it. Then the plane's wifi was down so I was stuck with it. :( I think I'm going to donate it to Goodwill rather than force my way through it.

message 150: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (happygolucky88) | 212 comments My reading slowed down in July because I traveled so much for work! I was exhausted!!

I'm excited to read more this month :)
