Sunscented | 3 comments I read an average of 2 books/week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It depends. I read myself to sleep every night so I usually get in a minimum of 30 minutes of reading every day, usually more.

message 52: by Nikoline (new)

Nikoline (annenikoline) I read several books a week. All depending on the book, but also on the amount of school work, exams etc.

message 53: by Ed (new)

Ed | 48 comments Wow; just saw this thread had new life ...great thoughts...I'm always fascinated by others' reading habits. What about television/internet distractions--are you able to avoid those or do you find that those have taken a toll on your reading time? I've found that to be so true and have not really found a solution. I know after several hours of reading I really enjoyed the experience but often that comes about from being stuck at an airport, swim meet, etc. without the distractions of at least tv.

message 54: by Sunscented (new)

Sunscented | 3 comments Ed, I find that what's on television these days just doesn't hold up to a good book for me, or even a not-so-good book. I mostly read for recreation to de-stress. Which is why most people watch tv. So I think it's just a matter of how you enjoy spending your down-time.
I'm reading a book right now written by a reading specialist who talks about the way technology is changing the way we read. She says that internet reading counts and will continue to grow as a major source for readers. So she says it counts, if that makes you feel any better. ;)

message 55: by Mallory (new)

Mallory Ed, I definitely find technology hiders my reading more than I would like to admit. I've been making a conscious effort to read more and watch less, and I've been happier reading more. It "feeds me more" haha :)

message 56: by Ed (new)

Ed | 48 comments Agreed. I guess making the choice to grab a book first when I have free time is the way to go. It's just so easy to web surf or veg out watching tv.

message 57: by Mary Sauer (new)

Mary Sauer | 4 comments It depends on the day. I am a breastfeeding mom--so I read at least 60 minutes a day while I pump on my three work days. Usually, when I am home with the kids, I am so exhausted at the end of the day that I only read for half an hour.

message 58: by Erin (new)

Erin (nahokuangelxo) | 33 comments I haven't had time to read with my two jobs and going to school. I am almost done with school so hopefully I will be able to do more reading

message 59: by Koleen (new)

Koleen Hansen | 18 comments January 10, 2015
To whom may concern:
It depends, mostly on how much work and colleges class as well as doctor visit I must attended do to my health. but I do manage to read one a week or two.
Best regards.

message 60: by Elisa (new)

Elisa | 3 comments It's really fascinating to read about other people's reading habits...
I think it's always a difference how fast you read! My sister for example sometimes reads about 2-3 books a day, because she is incredibly fast. Of course you wouldn't believe that she reads everything, but if you ask: she knows every little detail!!
Well, I always want to read more, everytime I'm in a book shop or in a library I plan to read more. But unfortunately, I'm trying to study enough, keep my flat clean and watch too many movies... The fact that I'm also reading quite fast is really good to complete books :) I'm also reading in the tram in my way to the university, that's always about an hour a day.

message 61: by Erin (new)

Erin (nahokuangelxo) | 33 comments I am a slow reader I like to take my time with a book. It depends on how many chapters there are in the book I am reading. For example I am reading Dewey the library cat who touched the world and there are 27 chapters in it. So I try to read maybe 2 or 3 chapters a night. I am enjoying the book. I am also a busy girl I have two jobs.

message 62: by Laurie (new)

Laurie Swinburne (laurieswinburne) | 3 comments One to two books depending on length, I read on the train to and from work and sometimes on my lunch break.

message 63: by FyzaReads (new)

FyzaReads | 1 comments I have been trying to finish a book a week but it all depends on the length and the subject.

My routine is to read for 1-2 hours in the morning and in the evening. I am more productive in the morning than later at night. And I also like to read slowly and write my thoughts as I proceed through the book.

message 64: by Laura (new)

Laura | 8 comments At least 2 hrs a day total, probably. More on weekends of course.

Jordan (Forever Lost in Literature) (foreverlostinlit) | 1 comments I tend to read multiple books at a time. For instance, I have a book on my Kindle for on-the-go, a 'morning' book, and a 'nighttime' book - because I just want different things at different times, you know? Because of this, I technically finish about one-two books a week, but it's not always every week that it happens. Hopefully some of that makes sense. :)

message 66: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (ezepeze11) | 72 comments It's hard to judge by hours, but I think that I could read a Tom Clancy-style book in one week, and a young adult book (e.g. something from the Private series, which I LOVE) in a day or two. Or course, this is while I am still on summer break; once school starts you never know how it will affect me.

p.s. I'm starting graduate school in September omomgomgmog

message 67: by Char (new)

Char | 2 comments I take the train to work everyday so i like to use that sitting time to do my reading.. on average, i'd say i read at least an hour a day. More if the trains are delayed, and/or if i get time to read at home.

message 68: by Anna (new)

Anna (lilfox) | 199 comments Now I read around 5 hours per day. But usually it's at least 2 hours

message 69: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Milosek It's tough to say how many hours because it really depends on how busy my week is. I typically read one book per week though. Or if I'm really needing a break from my life, 2 or 3;)

message 70: by Rae (new)

Rae (rae4jesus) I read whenever I can. I am trying to finish the 2016 book challenge

message 71: by Anna (new)

Anna (lilfox) | 199 comments I read on tram, on bus, on tram/bus stops, in queques

message 72: by Ed (new)

Ed | 48 comments A book a week seems to be a great goal

message 73: by Anna (new)

Anna (lilfox) | 199 comments I've 150 books to read in 2016 as a challenge and I already reached 100. Probably I have to set bigger challenge

message 74: by Jess (new)

Jess (boomalicious) I read anywhere from 1 book to 4 books a week. This year I set my goal at 366 books and I'm about 16 ahead. But, mind you, I read graphic novels, children's books, plays, and cookbooks and count them as part of the list. All in all I will probably have about 300 book books read by the end of the year, I hope.

I read everywhere. I have a kindle app so I read on the bus in to work, on the way home from work, during my lunch, before bed, on car trips (where I'm not driving), and anywhere else I can squeeze it in. Reading is my sanity, I like to do it as often as possible.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

I can only manage to read one book per week, if that. I usually read in bed at the end of the day, when I'm already tired, and often fall asleep while I'm reading. But I tend to wake up during the night and then I will read some more, maybe for half an hour. Sometimes on the weekends I will read early in the morning before I get up. I feel like I should be reading more, and I am trying for 50 books this year, Now that I work full time, I'm already behind schedule. It isn't possible for me to read at work and I only have a 30-minute lunch break. So really I can just read during the evenings or on weekends.

message 80: by Isabela (new)

Isabela Cruz | 1 comments I've been stopped for some time, but I want to restart my eager for reading again. I'm a flight attendant and is really hard to read because When I'm not travelling I'm home sleeping or involved with Tv shows.
I really want to start reading at least one hour a day, but it has been really hard to get involved with the stories which is so sad :(

Could you recommend me short and involving books ??

message 81: by Emma (new)

Emma Harrison | 2 comments i try to read at least once a day, whether that be for 30 minutes or 2 hours it doesn’t matter. it’s been easier since being off university for christmas break but i’m hoping once i start my second semester, i’ll still be able to uphold this!

sosi✮ (skywalker’s version) | 55 comments it depends if there is school or not. if there is school, i read one book for a week. if not, i can read two books.

message 83: by Elinor kh★ (new)

Mia Working on averaging 30 minutes a day to get back to reading like I used to. Now that my life is more in order, it's easier to focus on being consistent to make it a habit.

message 90: by Kaia ⛺️ (new)

Kaia ⛺️ | 7 comments Here representing all the slow readers!! I read probably 1.5 books a month. And that’s a good month.

message 91: by Gary (new)

Gary | 7 comments I usually manage to read 1 or 2 books per month. I read every evening before bed for 30 minutes, and then again in the morning before getting up. Slow and steady...

Joy-Marie Karahkwiio 🍉 Canadian | 3 comments I could read a book a week if it’s what I consider a 5 star read that I’m completely invested in. Otherwise it usually takes me 2 weeks to finish a book. BUT when cold and flu season hits I find it so difficult to read whenever I’m sick. I went almost all of October not reading a thing. I say don’t be discouraged if you can’t reach your goal of one book a week. Sometimes life gets in the way.
