Abby Whittredge I want to read 50 Young Adult books between today and June 15th. I am reading these books in order to create a great summer reading list for my 7th grade students. I am going to sort my books into the following categories:
Chick-Lit
Action/Adventure
Sports
Mystery
Supernatural
Sci-Fi
Fantasy
Animal Books
Realistic Fiction

Abby Whittredge 1. A Curse as Dark as Gold (could be Mystery or Fantasy)
A fabulous retelling of Rumpelstiltskin. Beautiful writing!

Arlene | 388 comments I am far from being a YA! but one year I worked at a book fair and found that I really enjoyed some of the books that I was selling! I will be interested in seeing what you find for your 7th graders. My granddaughter is in 6th currently and I am recommending books for her to read.

Abby Whittredge Please feel free to make any suggestions. Here are my criteria for choosing books:
A. The book must have been published in the last 5 years.
B. The book must have relatively clean language.
C. The must not have any overt sexual language or descriptions.

Abby Whittredge 2. Impossible by Nancy Werlin-
A rape, abortion talk and just too much sex for 7th grade.
Oh, well...

Sherri (sherrij2003) Have you read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson? It may help with the life lessons or something like that. I've never read Impossible but it might be a mellow version of that (w/o all the graphic details). Just a thought.
