Helping You To Know The News

Another reason not to watch Fox News (which is, we all know, a tupperware party for assholes)
Sorry, RA, but what "perspectives" are those? Glenn Beck and his "I Hate and Want to Kill Obama" perspective? Bill O'Reilly and his Ted Baxter-influenced bullying? Sean Hannity and his "America Love it Or Leave it?" perspective?
Not to say that MSNBC and CNN aren't guilty of their own biased perspective, but Fox News is in the business of stirring up shit among the masses and purposely withholding facts all for the sake of ratings. Roger Ailes admits to that.

Can't say this surprises me. My parents will be thrilled. I'll stay far away from the network as much as possible, just as I always do, and stick with the History Channel or the Learning Channel or even Cartoon Network.

Sure, they stir up shit, but sometimes the shit they stir up is worth exploring...hey, if you don't pay attention to Fox News at all, you don't pay attention to America. Have you seen their ratings? Am I not going to listen to NPR because they lean so far left?
Plus, Alisyn Camerota is hot.
I know some of you were waiting for me to say that.

RA, I admire that you can watch extreme networks like Fox and (hopefully) be able to keep them in perspective. I think it's important to know what is happening in all circles, I just can't stand hearing any of it without it tripping my Bitch neurons. More power to ya.

I like NPR, too, most of the time, but sometimes they can drive me as nuts as any other news outlet...

Does NPR really lean that far left? I think that's yet another of the myths the right loves to dish, just like "liberal media", when, truth be told, there's more of a right-leaning media than a left one.
One positive for Fox News is when I'm at the gym, and some talking head on that network goes on and on about some poisonous bullshit (pick whatever topic it is righties love to froth about), it only manages to piss me off and work out harder. I'm getting buffer just to smite right-wingers...

I don't think I agree with this, particularly the idea that Fox only leans right all the time in a mean-spirited way. I've seen the Fox and Friends people speak reasonably about Obama, for example, more often than not. Again, Fox is bigger than just the big name talking heads...
I have a hard time wrapping my head around just how big Fox is, after all. It's more than just channel 31 here - its' like 4 different local stations, and a whole segment of the cable market.
What's comparable to that? All the different MSNBC varietals?

I just have a hard time believing Fox News isn't anything but biased. When they reported that no other news network but theirs was reporting on anti-government rallies, it was proven to be utterly false. Then again, CNN and MSNBC have been known to spew bullshit as well. I hate the news networks; I don't enjoy the talking heads yelling at me through the screen, telling me what I should and shouldn't believe in.
For what it's worth, if anyone's ever watched "Forbes on FOX," you'll know what it's like to want to pull your brain out of your nose. I have zero idea how Steve Forbes, publisher of one of the bibles of the financial and corporate world, could be such a babbling idiot.
There's an adage in the broadcasting world that high ratings don't necessarily mean the product is a good product. For example, "The Jerry Springer Show" gets great ratings in syndication, but no one is going to claim that show gets great ratings because of its' quality content. It gets great ratings because it's a clusterfuck, and we enjoy watching clusterfucks. Glenn Beck gets great ratings because we enjoy (myself excluded) watching a pudgy idiot foam at the mouth about his paranoid delusions. CNN gets great ratings because, deep down inside, they're the TMZ of news; all fluff, no substance.

Heehee, I like that - CNN is the TMZ of news.
Most of the time, I like BBC best.

But when I listen to BBC on NPR, I am vastly amused by their sports section, which can go on for such a long time with much excitement! Cricket! Football! Hahaha, suddenly the neutral BBC becomes all sorts of excited, and you've got all the different English accents rushing together instead of the "proper" veddy British one.
BBC is almost always the best!

Glenn Beck is a hypocritical spasmotic moron... and he's Mormon which is why my Dad adores him and believes every word out of his mouth. bleh. Just because some claims they've had this illuminating spiritual awakening doesn't mean squat when your words & actions say otherwise. Sorry... had to rant a little. I hate that blob.
Hence the reason why I choose to tune out the "barking heads", as Bun Wat's referred them as, because that isn't news, it's opinion, and, last I was led to believe, it was up to the news media to deliver the news and for me to form my own opinions, not vice versa. And when the barking heads play fast and loose with the facts (the cretins on both Fox and MSNBC are notorious for that), I can only conclude they're beyond biased, they're misleading and dishonest. And, that, my friends, is what constitutes TV journalism these days: disregard and manipulate the facts, and, in turn, manipulate the masses, the stupid, brainless masses who believe in garbage like 9/11 conspiracy theories and Obama is illegally the President and "death panels."

And I didn't need any more reasons not to watch Fox. They are loony tunes. And last time I visited home, every damn bar, restaurant, and place with a TV had it tuned to Fox. I was frightened. Then I remembered that I don't live there anymore, and haven't for over half my life.
To me, this is a reason TO watch Fox News, which is already a giant Tupperware party for assholes.
The opportunities for Dame Palin to expose herself as an even bigger idiot than she already has are - in my world - quite intriguing and highly anticipated.

If so - and I'm not properly credited - then you can expect to hear from my team of handlers, trainers, therapists, linguists, donors, spokesmen, media consultants, speechwriters, image makers, spin doctors, crisis teams, spiritual gurus, food tasters, pollsters, pundits, wags, wonks, interstate bagmen, unindicted co-conspirators, miscellaneous hangers-on and three bimbos who look like the Mandrell sisters.

I have a hunch whatever Sarah Palin will be doing on Fox News will be her downfall. It'll expose her as a shallow opportunist.
Then again, maybe not. Regardless, hearing Sarah Palin ramble on about how it's God's plan to nuke Iran should make for entertaining television.

I don't know what a "mopportunist" is, but I agree that SP will fit right in on Fox. But she won't any longer be able to see Russia from her house. (still my favorite SNL line of the election season!)
We really need to make the line "...like a Tupperware party for assholes" the new all-the-rage Internet meme.

But I love "like a Tupperware party for assholes."

No applause. Just throw money.
I was actually a bit hesitant to throw in the profanity because I'm still kind of new here, but I figured what the fu--, er, heck.

Clark, there's something of an inference around her that we be mindful of our language, but I simply don't give a fuck. I throw four-letter, seven-letter, and twelve-letter profanities around like a leaf in the wind, and if I didn't get to curse, I'd go on a shooting rampage...and I dislike guns.*
(* which is not to say I'm anti-gun. I'm all for the Second Amendment and the freedom to own a gun. I just grew up around a lot of gun violence to shun firearms from my life)
So, feel free to let the profanities fly, I say.

I am not trying to start a debate here, and I believe that everyone should have the ability to own a gun if they so choose, but I am really having a hard time seeing any benefits to handguns.
