I actually was pretty disappointed with it. I had heard so many wonderful things about it, I think I ended up hyping it up too much. There were some parts I enjoyed but overall I was a little bored.

Carol Neman | 469 comments Heather, just reading the publisher's synopsis of this book put me in a 'This is heavy-duty stuff' mood. I feel drawn to read it, yet I don't know if I dare to, I would probably have to be in the right mood. Such a heavy thing...such a burden to bear...and yet, all the time, humans somehow get through the mistakes they have made and even find some dignity and peace. I guess this is a look at the other side of tradgedy...at another who needs compassion too.

It's definitely heavy stuff but I enjoyed it. Highly recommended. Your description of it is spot on for how I felt while reading it.
