I've already read (most) of the book. I really liked the first story but the rest felt like a chore to get through. I eventually stopped reading it after the 2nd Beauty & The Beast re-telling (I think).

I'm not sure if it's the writing style, the language or the fact that these stories aren't original (with the exception of the first, of course).
I guess I'm just disappointed.

The first story was quite good and I really enjoyed the imagery used in it.
Sarah - I think it's the origionality (or lack thereof) that didn't work for me. Most of the stories were fairy tale retellings but not much was different from every other retelling or even the origionals.

I agree. I was expecting fantastical adventure stories that were loosely based on a traditional fairy tales. Instead, they were incredibly boring - at least for me.
