Rach (rachlovestv) | 104 comments 1| Read 100 books.
My main reading goal this year is to read 100 books. I was considering not counting re-reads, but I've since changed my mind. Reading is reading, right?

2| Read longer books.
While trying to complete challenges, it is tempting to look for shorter books to read to be able to get through more books. Not this year! This year, I plan on finally reading Anna Karenina, as I have an excellent translation on hand. I will also read The Mysterious Island, The Count of Monte Cristo, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, and Outlander.

3| Read from the LOST Lit List in January.
Speaking of The Mysterious Island, this February begins the last season of my favorite TV show, LOST, and I want to read as many books as possible from the LOST Lit List this year. To start this out, I am going to try to read exclusively from that list for the month of January, up until the season premiere. I do have a few book club books to read, so I'll be throwing a few other books into the mix for variety, but the vast majority will be for LOST! :)

4| Read a Russian book every month.
Speaking of Anna Karenina, another goal is to read at least one book by a Russian author each month. Since my major in college was Russian Language/Literature, I always feel like I know so much about Russian lit. I haven't read any Russian books in ages, though, and a lot of the stuff I read in college has faded. So, I want to renew my knowledge and love of Russian lit this year! And reading things for pleasure vs. reading them as an assignment for class is a really different experience, so I'm looking forward to it!

5| Write weekly reading updates.
I keep tracking of all of my reading here on Goodreads, but I thought it would be fun to write a blog post every week, talking about what I have been reading. It seems like it would be a fun and interesting way to look back over the year and see what my reading experience has been. If you want to follow my Weekly Reads, you can check out my blog here.

That's about it! This thread will be a great place to keep track of my 100 books progress.

Denis Joplin (denidax) I love your resolutions! I think they are great!

I'm also doing Russian, but only language and as a minor, but I feel I should be reading some Russian literature to get a better idea of the culture... I have Crime and Punishment in my TBR list for this year, but I may include some more Russian classics to read during the holidays... they are so long and daunting! I will definitely follow your blog to see how your doing with the Russians

Good luck!

Deni

Bhumi, I loved Poison Study! Have you read it yet? It actually comes before Magic Study in the series, so I would definitely recommend it if you haven't. :)

Bhumi | 524 comments Yup, I read Poison Study and loved it too! Although I must say that I found Magic Study to be kind of boring, and I had to return it to the library even though I haven't finished reading it (which I didn't regret THAT much).

Oh good, I'm glad you read it! I kind of agree with you about Magic Study - It just wasn't as good as Poison Study. If you have a chance to get it again and finish it, though, I don't think you'll regret it.
