Melissa | 29 comments Finished House of Sky and Breath, which was excellent as always. Just read Fighting Destiny, which I wanted to like but just couldn’t overlook the thinly drawn characters and plot and repeated lack of true consent. I decided on a Darynda Jones novella A Lovely Drop as a chaser and liked it. Now I’m reading How to Save an Undead Life, which is promising so far

DemetraP | 379 comments I read a dark paranormal romance.

The hero is a bad guy (warlock) and she is a witch but once he figures out he actually loves her he is all in.

There is some graphic torture in this book so be warned. Hero tortures innocent people and the heroine.

TJ Klune never lets me down, that was yet another 5 star read for me. I hope you like it, but I have seen many people compare it to Cerualean Sea and not enjoy it.

Yeah, I really like their books. I was going to stop reading the Kate Daniels series after the second book, but I was told to give the third book a try. So glad I did, as I really came to love the series, even though I was a little disappointed with the last book. I need to get a reread in soon anyhow.

If you read their blog they posted a really funny scene of a few years after the series ended.

Kate, Curran, and someone else makes an appearance.

Here it is
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER FOR KATE DANIELS SERIES

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Curran: Hey, how is the shopping going?

Kate: I found really good tomatoes.

Curran: Oh good. Out of curiosity, what kind of monster looks like a rabid wolf that stands on hind legs? About eight feet tall, with big scaly bat wings?

Kate: Bear claws? Red eyes? Glows blue?

Curran: Yes, that’s the one.

Kate: It’s a kludde out of Belgium. Cape Fear River has been making stagnant pools all over the place after the last storm. It probably spawned in one of those. Why?

Curran: No reason.

Kate: Curran, is there a kludde in our yard?

Curran: Seems that way. So what else did you get besides tomatoes?

Kate: Where is our son?

Curran: Talking to the kludde.

Kate: What is it saying?

Curran: Something about ripping out Conlan’s heart and eating it.

Kate: Okay, and what is Conlan saying?

Curran: He is asking it why that specific threat. Ripping the heart out requires breaking the ribs and according to our son, it’s “laborious” while ripping out the throat is faster, easier, and more efficient. He seems genuinely curious, and the kludde is stumped.

Kate: Why me?

Curran: I’m watching them from the wall. I can jump down there in half a second.

Kate: If you do, don’t rip its head off…

Curran: Too late. Conlan just did.

Kate: Okay, it’s going to split into seven copies of itself. Look for the one that’s slightly brighter than the other.

Curran: By brighter you mean?

Kate: More saturated.

Curran: …

Kate: What’s going on?

Curran: He made blood claws, ripped out all of their throats, and now he is lecturing the corpses.

Kate: I think we should limit his visits to his grandfather. His tendency to orate is clearly rubbing off on Conlan, and it’s too dangerous. Something could attack him, and he wouldn’t notice it until it’s too late.

Curran: He is nicely distracted by the sound of his own voice.

Kate: Are you going to jump down and show him the error of his ways?

Curran: Yep.

Kate: Have fun. Take pics if you can.

Wolfsong (Green Creek, #1) by T.J. Klune His Green Creek series which starts with my beloved Wolfsong has now been picked up by Tor UK, and they will be publishing hardbacks with brand new covers, but not touching the contents thankfully. They may possibly be the first hardback books I will have bought in YEARS.

That whole series is gold, but possibly the last one, the Minotaur is my favourite. As I mentioned above, I can't wait to read more in this world and more by this author in general.

Wolfsong is an Angst Fest (capitalised deliberately!) which will probably make you sob, but it also has a ton of humour. It is my fav of all of his books that I've read so far, and given that I love all of what I read from him that is saying something.
