I liked book 1 in the series which had a merman hero too. Whispers of the Deep.

Also reading Weyward by Emilia Hunt

I recently finished re-reading White Hot

I don’t want it to end but I need to know how it ends 😂

I've just been looking through my ginormous e-library and TBR for an hour and couldn't, for the life of me, decide what I was going to read next. Yesterday I'd started and stopped in 4 different books. And that was after I'd already DNF'ed several series just because... a few were actually pretty good (Elemental Assassin), but I guess my reading mood is allover the place.
I want some romance, but it shouldn't be only sappy stuff. I prefer something supernatural or at least not a normal surrounding/society. I want some action, or mystery as well. But not cozy. I don't want too much stress or misery. Et cerera. Etc.
Browsed through here and actually became even more confused as I saw about a million suggestions I'd never even heard of. A little frustrated I started at the last page and then landed on your comment.
Finally! Major lightbulb!
I hadn't even considered a new The League book! Even though I bought all of the new ones.
To my surprise, the last one I read was Born of Betrayal about Fain. I actually thought 'yours' was next, but now I also have the opportunity of a decent binge ;). At least that gives me a week, maybe 1.5, or so before I'm back to going crazy over my library, lol.

I reread the whole series loved it even more the second time

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens (I read about 30-50 pages a week)
and a Social Psychology textbook for school lol

Especialy Silver Shark:
She's a war veteran (psychic warfare across something like the internet??) who's relocated to a new peaceful planet after her side loses (because of something like the geneva convention). She has to hide the fact she's a psycher or she'll be deported back to her original planet (and immediately killed).
On her new planet she's hired by a family/clan business that runs systems defense against psychers, and ends up basically falling for the clan head while still hiding the fact she's a psycher.
I think what I liked the most was her characterization? She's so analytical, and yet the story does a good job of showing how taken-aback she is at this new, beautiful, peaceful world (and her attractive, bright boss).

currently: The Stepford Wives (which I read before years ago)
Winter Lost
Disturbing the Dead
K-Pop Confidential
The God and the Gumiho
The Night Ends With Fire
