Whenever I'm not reading, I usually play Volleyball (which is my sport) with my friends :D I'm currently reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Susan Mallery (susanmallery) Hi, everyone! I just joined the group. Glad to be here! I love reading. Mostly, I read romance, both contemporary and historical (I write contemporaries), but I also pick up non-romance fiction from time to time, too. Right now, I'm reading Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy. I haven't decided yet whether I like it.

I love talking books, so bring on the friend requests! :)

Carrie Zagzebski (zag_runner) Hello, I am Carrie. I've been on this website for a couple of years, but never joined any groups until today.

I LOVE reading and usually read about a book a week. I prefer fiction and always have a HUGE waiting list at the library :)

Looking forward to being active on these boards and meeting some new people.

Randy Hildebrand Hi, I'm Randy and I just joined. (EWWW is this like an AA Meeting? :> ) I'm from Sunny FLA (though it's been a little cool lately), and I adore books! Right when my bookshelves got overcrowded, the Kindle came along to feed my book obsession. Though I DID just get a regular one from Amazon...I'm a published author too, but look forward to some great book chat! I'll lend a copy of my book to anyone!

I love to read, always my first choice when free time comes up. With the exception of my brother, NONE of my family are readers, so I rarely have anyone to talk books with, so I'm really excited about the prospect of a little book talk!

mechi (ma_bouche_espagnole) Hi! I'm a bit overwhelmed as I've just joined Goodreads and I'm not sure really how it works yet, but I'm Mechi and I adore reading (of course). I have been an avid reader my entire life but recently I realised I had not read a book in over three months, so I went crazy and now I'm reading like mad, but I cannot seem to find any great new books to read, so I'm excited to chat about books and hopefully learn about some great new reads!
And also some new reading friends, hopefully, as I'm brand new- I'd love to have some sort of book club!

Tom Bensley (bensley56) Hi everyone, I'm Thom and I'm an Australian. My favorite books to read are ones that deal with psychological issues and characters with deteriorating mental conditions. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (and the favor returned). :)

Hi Thom. I don't know if a male would be interested in a book about women's issues but if so, try Bad Girl Gone Mom. The mental and physical conditions in this book are closely tied together.

message 533: by K.C. (new)

K.C. Hi Abby,

I think I posted a reply to Thom in your thread. Sorry, I also wanted to recommend the same book, Bad Girl Gone Mom to you. My daughter is 23 and loved it.

message 534: by Brenda (new)

Brenda (brendamay421) Hi. My name is Brenda and I'm new to this site. I wanted a site where I could keep track of the books that I have read, seen what others have thought of the same books and to get recommendations to other authors that I might not otherwise give a chance. I am an avid reader and love to discuss with others their thoughts of books read. Please feel free to friend me as well :)

Hi Sonya. Welcome :) I've notices the YA genre has really been taking off lately. They seem to be more popular than ever (THank you Twilight series). I just finished reading "Witch and Wizard" by James Patterson. It was pretty good but he made it obvious it's going to be a long series. I recently joined this site to make some friends and to hopefully have some good discussions.

Abha (abhalovesbooks) Hi everyone! I'm Abha and I'm from New Jersey. I'm currently reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I love all kinds of fiction: fantasy, thriller, romance, heartwarming, heart wrenching, etc. Can't get myself to read non-fiction yet. As I've said in the 'What are you reading' thread, my favorite movie and book are the Lord of the Rings. I'm also a huge fan of the Harry Potter books. I carry a book everywhere I go (like most of you here, I'm sure). Aside from reading, I love watching sports. I look forward to talking books with you.

message 549: by Betty T (new)

Betty T (betty_t) Hello everyone, my name is Betty. I love to read but wasn't able to do much reading because I had to study for class. I don't have a particular subject area as a favorite, I read what interests me pretty much. I added books I was interested in on my list while I was in grad school to go back and read them. My goal is to read most of the books I have on my to-read list this year. I bought a Nook so I can squeeze reading in as much as I can to get back into my hobby.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Thanks

message 550: by Bj (new)

Bj Hunter (bjhunter) Hi everyone, my name is BJ (Bobbie Jo), and I live near Pittsburgh, Pa. I am the only reader in my family, which consists of dh Bobby, and sons Tyler who is 13, and Jacob who is 10. I work a part time job besides taking care of my family, so I don't get to read as much as I would like, just a few hours a day usually. I look forward to discussing books with everyone!
