Hi Briana, I'm from Minnesota too!! What city are you from? I know three Brianas from there so it would be so cool/weird if you were one of them. o.O

Scott Carter Hello all. Glad to see so many readers. Just re-read Glen Duncan's I Lucifer. Great book. Apparently a movie is coming out soon starting Daniel Craig. Any thoughts on whether this a good choice for people that have read the book?

Aurora Serenity Sildatke (usagitsukinobunbun) Hi, I’m Sharon. I love to read and write and hope to someday be a published author ;)
A secret dream of mine is to have a gigantic library like in ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
My favourite book, if I had to choose, would probably be, ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’, by Oscar Wilde. I absolutely love that book!

message 235: by AAAlien (new)

AAAlien wohhh i also dream with having a huge library like that one (L) and hi hi :)

Melissa (yabookshelf) Hi everyone! My name is Melissa and I'm a book blogger based in Montreal, Canada. I mostly read YA novels for the blog, and in case you want to check it out, you can find it here: YABookShelf.com.

I see that you're reading Shiver this month, so hopefully I can get through it by the 31st as well. I just got the book a few days ago, but began reading something else first.

Looking forward to reading and discussing books with you all!

Melanie (melaina) Hi everyone, I'm gonna butt in and agree with the Beauty & the Beast library:-) B&B is, with Cinderella, my fave fairytale (I just started Beastly in my car (in traffic) on my way to work (yes, I can read anywhere and anyhow) :-)

As for introducing myself :

***standing up and waving***
Hi, I'm Melanie, and I'm a book addict, with a serious compulsive book-buying "problem" (I only think that when I review my bank statements, lol) especially since discovering bookdepository!

I'm 22 (almost 23), a law student who grew up in Paris and Geneva (where I'm currently living).. I started reading when I was 4, by 7 I wanted to be a detective like Nancy Drew, and today I still read every day.. I read one to four books a day (when I have a quiet day planned, which is rare), and my favorite genres are fantasy, romance (PNR/historical/contemporary/romantic suspense), thrillers, YA and historical fiction :-)

I'm serious when I say I'm an addict, BTW... I've bought over 450 books since Jan 1st, and 103 Sunday night only (and this was after ordering 77 books two weeks ago)!! :-) Glad to see that other people love to read as much as I do!!!

My latest read was Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson last night between 1 and 4 am (yeah, I got hooked ;-p), and I adored it!

message 243: by Melissa (last edited May 19, 2010 08:23AM) (new)

Melissa (yabookshelf) Hi Melanie!

If you have an obsessive-compulsive book buying "problem" that's affecting your bank statement, then maybe I have a solution for you. (Once you get through the 630 books that you've bought since January!)

I blogged about a new book renting service just yesterday. They have all the hottest new YA fiction, and there aren't any due dates or late fees. Check out my post on Book Swim and we can all be swimming through a see of books!

message 244: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) Lol :-) Thanks Melissa, that seems like a great idea, save for 2 things:

I live in Switzerland, so that might be an impediment :-) When I move to the US in 2 yrs, maybe I'll try it:-))

And I got to say, I do like having my own copies, since I reread a lot of my books (I read so many that I tend to forget parts of my books in months:-))

But it seems like a good way to save on money:-)

message 245: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (yabookshelf) @Melanie: I think you might be right about living in Switzerland and not being able to use the service, but someone else from Europe asked me so I sent an email to the company. If I find out different, I'll let you know.

I can imagine that you might forget parts fairly soon. LOL. Even though I don't read as many as you, I do like re-reading them as well. It's nice to spend some time with a favorite book again. :)

After all, it definitely is only available for US addresses. Unless you live on a US military base outside of the US, then you can't use the BookSwim service. I'm a little bummed...I can't even participate.
