There is no rule Matthew, any book will do. But I always look at the books I've read first to see if anything will work.

Hi Bib... didn't watch the TV series... I got worried when I see the title screen... and though I liked the LOTR movies, they were not the same as the books. I remember the Shannara series from when I was (a lot) younger and don't want to ruin them with a TV show.

But never tried the new ones. The first two series I read early 90's, by late 90's I'd moved on... but can't recall exactly to what... probably Iain Banks!
