FlibBityFLooB What books do you think handle the love triangles in the best way?

message 2: by Steph (new)

Steph (angel4492) I like the love triangle in the "Riley Jenson" series by Keri Arthur. I love Quinn, but Kye is her wolf's mate which frustrates me b/c I love Quinn ... ya see?! :) Another triangle I love to hate is Cassie/Mircea/Pritkin in the "Cassandra Palmer" series by Karen Chance.

I love/hate it when an author can make you hate a "new addition" to a couple, but can just as quickly make you fall for them and get ya frustrated right along with the initial twosome with the thorny, unwelcome (most of the time) addition.

Both authors have made me, against my will (LOL), fall for the "other man" even though I love the "main man". Aughh! Can't we all just have our cake and eat it too?! hehe :)

Niko Llewyn (nikollewyn) I love the romantic tension in The Fever series. Vlane and Barrons are divine.

message 4: by new_user (new)

new_user I think the best example that I've seen of a love triangle thus far has been The Dark Swan series by Richelle Mead. The two men are very different and with their own appeal and flaws, and the heroine's progress is very natural and complex. She is also, unlike many UF heroines, interested in a commitment. She doesn't just sample flavors, LOL. So hers is the most realistic triangle that I've seen.

Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1) by Richelle Mead Thorn Queen (Dark Swan, #2) by Richelle Mead

Agreed! Definately one of my faves!

Shannon (Savhage Temptrest) (savhagetemptress) | 7 comments I agree with the Dark Swan series as well! Lovin these books!

Aimee (facere323) | 36 comments I think part of it is that both Dorian and Kiyo draw on a different facet of who Eugenie is. Although, I must admit that Dorian seems to bring out a more likeable Eugenie. If it were up to Kiyo, she'd be so blah. So....Go Team Dorian!!!

message 8: by Roshio (new)

Roshio | 3 comments Woohoo!! I'm with Dorian as well! just maybe, maybe she might end up with him!! he's so much more cooler, Kiyo is unbelievably boring. I used to like the Anita Blake series when it was just Jean-Claude and Richard, but that kinda took a turn i never expected. I am and always will be for Jean Claude though!

message 9: by Dija (new)

Dija I think pretty much all of Mead's love triangles are very realistic and complex. Really tears you up on which guy you want getting the heroine in the end.

And I'm definitely Team Dorian as well. Kiyo was great for about the first half of Storm Born, before we find out about Maiwenn. It just seems like he has everything he could ever wish for (the kid, a friendly ex, no kingdom, Eugenie, etc.), while Eugenie struggles with every new change in her life. Dorian seems an extreme version of Adrian, and since I love Dimitri more than Adrian, it only seems fair to love Dorian over Kiyo now. XD

Kristine (krazy_kd) | 9 comments Dark swan, Cassandra palmer, AND the Riley Jensen series are all on my fav series. (more on DS and CP than RJ) party because the RJ series in the middle bits was so corny (with quin) and went very rocky, and I thought killing off kye was pathetic D: ahahah BUT still, it was good in the beginning and when kye was around. The DS series was great but the latest book went flat. The CP is as great as always. To those who haven't read it, the first few books are kinda cliche but it gets better. Honest. Ahahha I love love-triangles ;D

message 11: by Niko (new)

Niko Llewyn (nikollewyn) I almost forgot SJ Day's Eve of darkness series. Alec Cain and Reed Abel are killer. I don't even know whom I'm rooting for anymore.

message 12: by Kortni (new)

Kortni | 6 comments Twilight, the hunger games, and the vampire diaries!!M (I love TVD)

message 13: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliryder) | 2 comments My favorite love triangles are from 'Thoughtless' (Denny, Kellan, & Kiera have my fave triangle EVER) and 'Nightshade'.

message 14: by S.K. (new)

S.K. Munt (wordwhisperer) The Selection-team Maxon, though for the time being I want to whoop his ass, Twilight-team Edward. No negotiations there...The Hunger Games-Team Finnick. She blew a HUGE opportunity with that one!! And True Blood-Team Eric.

message 15: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (nodakbabe) | 3 comments So far my favorites are Thoughtless series by SC Stephens and the Kathleen Turner series with Blane and Kade by Tiffany Snow. Both 5 stars.

message 16: by S.K. (new)

S.K. Munt (wordwhisperer) Oh I just finished Thoughtless it made my blood boil! Haha people think my love triangle is intense but bloody hell! Thoughtless put hints into perspective or me!

message 17: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 3 comments I liked Cassandra Palmer and Riley Jensen too, although I thought the Quinn/Kye was less convincing because she didn't even like Kye. She was just attracted to him because of the whole soul mate thing.

But I agree with S.K. Finnick in Hunger Games would have been awesome!

message 18: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 3 comments Oh yeah, and Kelley Armstrong's Darkness Rising series was well done. The two guys were appealing in their own way, and each relationship development was believable.

And the right guy won. ;)

If we're talking about love triangles that worked, Erica O'Rourke's Torn Trilogy was nice because she got to fall for and taste both guys before she had to make her decision at the end. Either guy was a legit option. I hate when a triangle is really just another guy who is interested in the girl but has no real shot with her.

message 19: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (nodakbabe) | 3 comments any ideas for a love triangle that is NOT a series? Sometimes I just want a little entertainment that doesn't go past 1 book. I will look into some of these that Jenny has mentioned. Also, looking for love triangles that are not paranormal - burned out on those.

message 20: by Janis (new)

Janis Glass | 2 comments I like the Thoughtless series as not into supernatural stories and have not found a love triangle yet other than this.

escapeinmybookshelf (dearmrskara) | 1 comments Summer trilogy by Jenny Han. And the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare.
