FlibBityFLooB Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

Did Marianne Dashwood truly understand the difference between Willoughby and Colonel Brandon?

Laura (highlandhussy) | 18 comments aww, my favorite Jane Austen book! No, I don't think she ever did. I think she was a silly girl who wanted dashing and got her heart trampled. Then she accepted safe. I think Elinor understood, and tried to convince her, but Marianne was heartbroken and probably just "settling" for Col. Brandon

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) I agree that she never DID understand the differences--or that she got the better end of the deal by going for Col. Brandon. But then again--I was ALWAYS a Brandon fan.

While not my fav (that's Persuasion) I do love the book. And ok, I have to admit that I might be partial to Persuasion simply because I'm a Navy brat. Its Navy all the way. Plus my Da was really into Tall Ships.

FlibBityFLooB I think Persuasion has one of the best love letters I've ever read :)
