Carrie (demay_cb) | 8 comments I am eager to challenge myself to this. There are many oppertunities out there and I hope I can select 50 to try.

I have yet to generate my list but here are two I am working on...

1. Julie and Julia 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen by Julie Powell

2. The Big Oyster History on the Half Shell by Mark Kurlansky

I am almost done with Julie and Julia and have just started The Big Oyster. I tend to balance a simple book with a more intellectual book. Hence the first two selection. I am pushing to get through Julie and Julia because I am eager to start something new...I am hoping the movie is better than the book (for once).

Laurie (pinkalpacagmailcom) I haven't read the book, but I thought the movie was really enjoyable, especially the Julia Child sections.

Carrie (demay_cb) | 8 comments Actually Julia Child's book (My Life in France),I think is going to be on my list. I have heard it is a great book. Her (Julie's) writing was funny at first but then became old really quickly. And I don't think she did a good job of inter connecting her food life and real life with words. Infact, it read more like a screenplay. The movie, needless to say is in my Netflix. :-)

Cathy Carrie...I was quite disappointed with the book "Julie and Julia". I also read "My Life in France", which I preferred to "Julie and Julia". The movie was a pleasant surprise that I did prefer to the book because it wove the two books into a light easy to watch film. I agee with Laurie above that I enjoyed Meryl Streep's sections of the movie as Julia Child.

Happy reading!

Have you read anything by Ruth Riechl? I have heard her stuff is pretty good.

Carrie (demay_cb) | 8 comments Working on the Big Oyster full time now. It is REALLY good and really interesting. It is not just about Oyesters but also about the rise of New York City.

Carrie (demay_cb) | 8 comments Julie and Julia: Checked off. Not happy with!

Almost through The Big Oyster. Super interesting.

Started The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. The Lost Symbol Despite what some say about Dan Brown and his style, his stuff is entertaining to me. With a busy job, the last thing I want to do when come home is open up a heavy book.
