Shiver was fantastic. Great characters, excellent writing, a really cool take on werewolves. It will be hard to wait until mid-summer for the sequel. I highly recommend it.
Another great book from Elizabeth Vaughan. White Star continued right where Dagger-Star left off, but with different main characters. Vaughan does such a great job with mixing just the right amount of romance, magic, and adventure. I'm looking forward to her next book which she thoughfully and cleverly lets the reader know which characters will be the next books main characters. She continues to be my favorite author.
Finished my second book, Shadowfae. I enjoyed it. May not be for everyone though. I describe it as urban fantasy leaning towards erotica, kind of dark, and very gross actually. I lost count of the number of times the main character Jade pukes. But I really liked the plot and how the book ends.1. A Favorite Author:

After reading Lover Revealed, I can see why this is the least favorite DBD book of the series for many of the diehard fans. I enjoyed the book for the simple fact that it was the next step in the series but the interaction between Marissa and Butch did leave me a bit sore. All the drama in the book was created because the two characters wouldn't take a minute to calm and look at the situation that they were overreacting about. I can understand one of them acting this way, but not both. If they had just calmed down this book could of been wrapped up in 200 pages. I will of course continue reading the series but as of now I have to say this is my least favorite of the books.
ALL ABOUT AUTHORS - MARTINA'S LIST - 2/10 COMPLETED!Just finished Shiver (Wolves of Mercy Falls, Book 1) by Maggie Stiefvater which I give 5 stars. It's a young adult paranormal romance about a 17 year old girl named Grace. Grace is obsessed with the wolves who live in the woods behind her house in small-town Minnesota. But not just any wolf, one wolf in particular - HER wolf. The wolf with the golden eyes. The wolf who saved Grace from being mauled by the rest of the pack when Grace was 11.
Sam has watched Grace from the woods every winter since he first met her when she was 11 years old, but has hidden from her every summer lest she recognize his wolfish eyes looking out of an all too human face. Drawn to her for an unknown reason, yet keeping his distance as any wild animal would. Now problems in town are drawing Grace & Sam together, but could tear them apart forever.
I LOVED this book! It's written in the 1st person, but the chapters alternate between Grace's & Sam's viewpoints. This sounds like it might be confusing, but somehow it ends up being very simply elegant. Much of the writing is the same: simple yet elegant & beautiful. I adore both Sam & Grace as well as some of the minor characters. And this doesn't mean they're flawless - they aren't, but you somehow love them in spite of their flaws. I will DEFINITELY be picking up book #2, Linger, when it comes out in July 2010. Though I'm not usually a fan of most YA, I think I'll have to look into Maggie Stiefvater's other books as well - especially if the writing is as good as it is in Shiver.
A note to parents of teens considering this book: there is a sex scene, but it is written very clean. It's between the 17 & 18 year old protagonists and the language focuses mostly on their love & reverence for one another and is not graphic. I'd say it's PG-13, but as usual you should read it yourself before deciding if your teen should be reading it.

Finished my third book, Eternal Hunter. I was a bit disappointed by the last book I read by Cynthia Eden, but I really enjoyed this one. Though it seems like I already read a book by Eden involving a women being stalked by a psychotic killer. I think one of the books in her Midnight Masters series. 3/10Really enjoyed Molly Harper's Jane Jameson and her introduction into her new vampire life. Greatly amusing at times even though the mystery wasn't much of a surprise. I look forward to starting the next book in the series.

You don't need to read all the Nightwalker book before the others. Everything is explained really well. I enjoy both series although they are very different.

I have done no reading in the last couple of days. Hubby decided to go "mad scientist" on my poor little computer and started mucking about with it. He reformated the hard drive, put in a new op sys, new memory, new vid card. . . Its working much better now, but 2 days with no computer has had me in withdrawal. :oP
I've been doing some of the rest of the stuff that I "have" to do before this month is advanced much further. For some reason, this month is being really busy. But I'm starting to hurt (all this cold and fronts moving through are affecting my arthritis) so I'm thinking about curling up with Dresden and re-reading one of his books. Gotta LOVE that wizard. :o)

Another great book by Nalini Singh! I really love this series. I really like how she portrayed the mating of two dominant characters and the struggles and fight between them. I anyone hasn't started this series I would really recommend it!
