Just finished The Outlaw Demon Wails...it was my second chance book. I can't say I'm glad I picked up this series again, but it was tolerable. I just get so sick of the relationship issues that Ivy and Rachel have, although they seem to have finally solved their problems...it only took 6 books of angsty issues. I'm not sure I would read another book in the series.

Yay Melissa! Karen Chance is fantastic and you're in for quite a treat with the Dory books! :)

Only halfway through the month and already farther than I've ever made it before! Hopefully that means that I'll be able to finish this time!

Just finished a re-read of poison study. I've had a pretty hectic, and stressful month so I've been doing lots of re-reads of favorite books. Sometimes, the best way to get rid of stress is to curl up with a book that you already love!

Kresley Cole does not disappoint. Eventhough this one wasn’t a favorite of mine (can’t decide why) it was still another great addition to the Immortal After Dark Series. Liked Lucia (though she liked to make life harder on herself) and absolutely looooooved Garreth. Gotta love them overbearing werewolves :D

I think his vampire books are his weakest! A Dirty Job, on the other hand, was hilarious--as were most of the rest of his books. I hope you end up liking him better this time around!

Shiver was fantastic. Great characters, excellent writing, a really cool take on werewolves. It will be hard to wait until mid-summer for the sequel. I highly recommend it.

Another great book from Elizabeth Vaughan. White Star continued right where Dagger-Star left off, but with different main characters. Vaughan does such a great job with mixing just the right amount of romance, magic, and adventure. I'm looking forward to her next book which she thoughfully and cleverly lets the reader know which characters will be the next books main characters. She continues to be my favorite author.

I was a little disappointed by Staked. There were some inconsistencies in the world that was created. Sometimes to the point of confusing the hell out of me. Lots of sarcasm and dry humor, which is good, decent characters and an okay plot. I'm sure I will read the sequel, but I'm not rushing out to buy it based on this book.

Well, I am glad that I gave the author of Angel of Mercy a second chance, but I won't be picking up the next book. I bought book 1 (Beg for Mercy) and this book at my library's used book sale last summer. After reading the first book at the beginning of the year, I had put it and this book aside to get rid of. I only spent a dollar total on them so I didn't really care if I hadn't read the second book. Now I can feel like I didn't waste any money, but I sort of wasted my time. I actually struggled to remember who was who and what had happened in the other book even though I read it 6 weeks ago. That says it all, the books are forgettable.

So, Karen Chance is totally my new favorite author and I wish Cassie was my BFF. I loved Touch the Dark, which I read last month, so I was hoping that Claimed By Shadow would be just as good, and it was fanatastic. I love all the characters and the whole world. I love the pace of these books. I'm so glad I bought the whole series and the spin offs so I can keep reading!

I enjoyed Fragile Eternity just as much as the first two in the series. This one ended with somewhat of a cliffhanger. I'm hoping the next book will make the characters more decisive. I'm getting a little tired of the who should I be with that seems to be catching in these books.

I really liked Vampire Academy and look forward to continuing the series. It was a quick and fun read and I liked all the characters. I'm always happy when the books I buy just because everyone on goodreads talks about them, end up being worth the money.

Vampire Kisses 4/5 ****
I enjoyed this book. I thought it was funny. My problem was that is was really short. I think it should be more of a short story then a novel. I mean I have read the next 2 in the series and wish she would have put them all together then seperate them. I think that would have made more sense. Overall, it was a great read.

Shiver 5/5 *****
I loved this book. This will be one that I will be re-reading. I think it has a great story line with werewolves. I mean this one was better in that area then the twilight series, which I love and have re-read several times. It has a great love story about a girl who goes to extremes to save the man/werewolf that she loves. It is a must read!!!!

Wolfcry 1/5 *
I loved Hawksong and even Snakecharm, but hated this book in the series. I was doing okay till the last 50 pages. It all fell apart and wrapped up really quickly. I would never recommend this book to anyone.

Dark Lover 5/5 *****
I loved this book. I thought that it was a great blend of a love story with action. I loved the take on having a group of vampire warriors to protect them. I think that this is another must read and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Marked 5/5 *****
I loved this novel as well. I think that it takes a new twist on vampires. I loved it so much that I have read all of the ones out. I mean that alone should say that it was good. I think that is like 6 books. I should have meet my quota alone with these. It is about a girl that is marked as a vampire and has special powers. You get an idea of why she was blessed with these powers as the books continue. Great series so far!

1. Favorite: Summer Knight, Jim Butcher (Faerie war! 3.5 to 4 stars.)
2. New to me: Deadtown, Nancy Holzner (New concepts, but oh so very meh. 3 stars.)
3. Second chance: Lover Eternal, J.R. Ward
4. GoodReads Author: The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks, Josh Lanyon (Loved it! 4.5 stars.)
5. Birth year (1979): Crystal Rain, Tobias S. Buckell
6. Initial - first name (M): Snobbery with Violence, Marion Chesney (Cute. 3.5 stars.)

Death Masks seems like a turning point for Harry Dresden. He might just be ready to accept he's not responsible for every little thing that goes wrong.

I really want to go ahead with the next book, but I'll behave and stick with the challenge!

I still haven't picked up Lover Eternal...

Ashley (ashleylaura87) | 162 comments Alright, my first time entering the challenge and I think I'm doing pretty well.

5/10!!!

1. A Favorite Author: A Touch of Dead-Charlaine Harris *** I really enjoyed "Gift Wrap"
2. "New" Author to me: The Lightning Thief-Rick Riordan I made a Change here to Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. **** I LOVED this book! Maggie writes so beautifully it's like poetry. She added wonderful tidbits into the genre. I can't wait for book two!
3. Gave up on/Second Chance: Guilty Pleasures Laurell K. Hamilton ** I really wanted to Like this book...maybe it's because I really don't LIKE Anita Blake as a character that much. She makes some really snide comments about various types of people that just turned me off. I did buy the second in the series in the hope that it would get better, because she is so popular...but I may return it.
4. A Good Reads Author: The Sandman Vol 1 Preludes and Nocturnes-Neil Gaiman *** This was an interesting story and the artwork was beautiful. I haven't read many graphic novels, so I feel like I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would...but that may be from my lack of experience in reading in this format. I think it may sink in more on a re-read.
5. An Author born/died in the same year as you:??? Can anyone help with 1983? I pretty much refuse to read the Eragon series and I've done a ton of searching and the only person (whose books are readily available) is Tennessee Williams, who didn't write anything in relation to PNR...So I'm at a loss...HELP! :) I've decided to go with Tennessee Williams Orpheus Decending, which is very debatable but is a modern retelling of Greek myth, which makes it ok for me. :) I ended up reading The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams because the other wasn't available at my local used bookstore. I know it's not PNR, but I spent ages looking for something else and couldn't find anything. This play I give ***, It was a memory play, as described in the intro, and it followed a mother and her two children, but it was pretty depressing, actually.
6. An Author whose first or last name starts with A: The Witching Hour-Ann Rice Currently Reading!
7. An Author whose first or last name starts with M: You Slay Me- Katie MacAlister
8. A Male Author: Storm Front Jim Butcher I had to replace with The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan because I couldn't find a copy of the other.
9. A Female Author: Dark Lover JR Ward
10. More than one Author: Good Omens Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

Nita (gillnit) I had a different book picked out for an author with an N first or last name, but then ended up picking up Archangel's Kiss, the second book in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series. I am so glad I did; I really loved this book. The first book I really enjoyed, but I found Raphael almost too cold, too alien. Singh has given Raphael some humanity, which makes sense, I guess, after the events that ended the last book. I highly recommend this series.

(Whining) geeze guys, you all need to start writing 1 or 2 fewer messages in here. My computer is still giving me fits. Guess its time to start using the laptop for more than my sewing. (computerized embroidery sewing machine, for those inquiring minds that just HAVE to know.)

I'm stalled at 6 of 10 because I have 4 library books that do not fit my last 4 categories that I have to get red and back to the library by Sat. After that, hopefully I'll have time to read those last 4 books.
