Jess | 3721 comments The two books that won for February are (round of applause):

1. Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton
2. Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

Which book or books will you be reading for February BOM? Let us know here:

message 2: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I have already read them both and they are great ones. I look forward to seeing what everyone else thinks of them.

message 3: by Jess (last edited Jan 22, 2010 12:08PM) (new)

Jess | 3721 comments I also have read both, but I'll pop in and see what people have to say and also to discuss them.

We also will have other books (AOM challenge, and V-Day Challenge) that you can read in Feb if you would still like to participate Darcy :)

message 4: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I'll definitely be chatting. In some ways I like it when I have already read the books because there is no pressure to get the book and get it read, but then in others I like to discover new ones too.

message 5: by Jess (last edited Jan 22, 2010 12:13PM) (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Yeah and when the book is one I haven't read in awhile, it gives me a chance to re-read. But in this case I've read Magic Bites alot.. I won't even say how many times LOL. and Guilty Pleasures I don't want to read over.

message 6: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Have you tried the audio ones of the Kate Daniels series? I read the books, then listened to them again when the audio ones came out. It was a fun way to reread.

message 7: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments I don't listen much to audio books, I never know what to do while I listen. Just lay around? Do something at the same time? lol.

message 8: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (funlovinlady) | 113 comments Cool! Did you know that Ilone Andrews is actually a husband/wife writing team. Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews

message 9: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I like the audio ones for when I am cleaning around the house or I have big project like painting, and on long car rides. But sometimes they are so good I have a hard time to stop listening to them.

message 10: by Anna (new)

Anna (aknas22) | 349 comments I've read Guilty Pleasures already but I haven't read Magic Bites yet so I'll be reading it next month. This is good because I've been meaning to read it for a while now.

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 766 comments I may skim through Guilty Pleasures again so I can participate in discussions. I won't have time for Magic Bites, so I don't think I'll do that one.

message 12: by Jess (last edited Jan 23, 2010 06:28AM) (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Hey Debbie, those are great books you're going to be reading, but this thread is to find out which books people will be choosing to read from the Feb BOM.

The two choices are listed in the first thread. Guilty Pleasures or Magic Bites.

message 13: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I'm going to have to read Guilty Pleasures. I keep putting off reading anything by Laurell K Hamilton, so it's about time that I started!

message 14: by Jess (last edited Jan 26, 2010 09:22AM) (new)

Jess | 3721 comments THIS THREAD IS FOR WHAT PEOPLE WILL BE READING FOR BOM ONLY!!!!

ALL OTHER COMMENTS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THE GENERAL THREAD: WHAT ARE YOU READING RIGHT NOW PART DEUX.

message 15: by Keta (new)

Keta (ketadiablo) | 18 comments So sorry, new here. Is BOM - Book of the Month? Duh, should have figured that one out.

Where do we post what we are reading now then?

Keta

message 16: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Mannarino (joyce82270) | 78 comments I will be reading Guilty Pleasures

Keta, I reposted what you said in the thread.. it's called What are you reading now? Part Deux, the general thread.

I posted the link to the thread in message 14

message 18: by Keta (new)

Keta (ketadiablo) | 18 comments Ok, thanks so much, Keta

message 19: by Chelle (new)

Chelle (nwgrrl) | 4 comments I haven't read either author, but have really been looking forward to reading some Laurell K. Hamilton, since she seems to be such a Goodreads favorite. :) I plan on reading both and having some lively discussions!

message 20: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Awesome Chelle. I'm sure there will be a good discussion since I think people either love Hamilton or hate her.

message 21: by Chelle (new)

Chelle (nwgrrl) | 4 comments Thanks, Jess! There is something SO amazingly cool about being able to discuss something you've just finished reading with so many other people - especially the friendly literate ones I've found on this site.

Goodreads takes the "book club" premise to the next level. :)

message 22: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments It does take the "book club" to the next level! Love it! Plus, you can be in a book club now with people that read the same kinds of books that you do.

A few months ago my mom joined a regular book club in our area, but she's getting frustrated because she just doesn't like the books that they keep picking. With good reads, you can just hook up with the people that read the same types of things! Gotta love it!

KA, I know exactly what you mean. I've tried the Book Club thing with some people I worked with, but schedules were so hard to coordinate, people disagreed on which books to read, and it was hard to always remain diplomatic when you didn't agree with someone's viewpoint - and they're the same somebody who signs your checks. :p

Goodreads is sooo much more fun! :)

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 437 comments I've read them both before, but I may do another listen through of Magic Bites, as I adore that series. And yes Leslie, the fact that Ilona Andrews is actually a wife/husband writing team is quite cool. Gordon occasionally posts snippets of things from Curran's POV that aren't present in the books. =)

Guilty Pleasures is the only Anita Blake book I've read, and I was kind of ambivalent about it. I own the first four though, so maybe the discussions will inspire me to give the series another shot.

message 25: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) I haven't read either of them. But I have Guilty Pleasures on my Tbr list. So I'm going to go with that, and if I have any time left I will read Magic Bites. I just started school again so I have to be wise with my timing. D:

message 26: by Amber (new)

Amber (peachystateofmind) | 16 comments I'll be reading Magic Bites as I've already read all of Hamilton's Anita Blake series.

message 27: by Book Huntress (new)

Book Huntress (bookhuntress) | 7 comments I've read Guilty Pleasures before so I will be chiming in on that discussion, I will say this is not LKH's best book, keep going with the series it does suddenly take off!!!!

I am trying to get Magic Bites from the library, just waiting....

message 28: by Archer (new)

Archer I have also read both of the books and loved every bit of them. Always happy to discuss.

message 29: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments So far I'm about halfway through Guilty Pleasures and really enjoying it so far! Can't wait to finish it so that I can start discussing it in the spoilers folder!

message 30: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments I'll be reading Guilty Pleasures as I already own it. And I've selected it for the RRRC February Challenge also, so good timing.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get my hands on a copy of Magic Bites in time for this month.

message 31: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments So I finished Guilty Pleasures. Now I want to read Magic Bites. Trying to read both of the books this month!

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I have Magic Bites in my TBR pile and it has been a while since I read Guilty Pleasures so I will go for both
