Em (emily27) | 21 comments Alright, late joining this group, but I've read 3 books so far.

The Perfect Elizabeth A Tale of Two Sisters by Libby Schmais Phantom of the Opera (Oxford Bookworms) by Gaston Leroux Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

1. The Perfect Elizabeth: A Tale of Two Sisters 3*
2. The Phantom of the Opera 4*
3. Man's Search for Meaning 5*

Currently working on The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Writings (includes Lady Windermere's Fan, Salome, An Ideal Husband, The Importance of Being Earnest, and some poem that I'll probably skip) I'll post as soon as I finish. I'll try to include reviews from now on as well

Em (emily27) | 21 comments The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Writings (Bantam Classics) by Oscar Wilde

4. The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Writings 3*

I found myself wanting to like The Picture of Dorian Gray but just not quite being able to. An Ideal Husband and the Importance of Being Earnest were very good and amusing though.

Em (emily27) | 21 comments In the Belly of the Bloodhound Being an Account of a Particularly Peculiar Adventure in the Life of Jacky Faber (Bloody Jack, Book 4) by L.A. Meyer

5. In the Belly of the Bloodhound: Being an Account of a Particularly Peculiar Adventure in the Life of Jacky Faber 5*

This was a fun read. I think it's my favorite of the Bloody Jack Adventures so far. Once I started seriously reading, it went by so fast!

Em (emily27) | 21 comments The Eyre Affair (Thursday Next, #1) by Jasper Fforde

6. The Eyre Affair 4*

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jasper Fforde is subtlely clever and the characters are very well developed.

Em (emily27) | 21 comments I'm gonna need to pick up the pace a bit if I'm going to make it to 100! Maybe I'll catch up over summer break- I usually read a lot more then.

Em (emily27) | 21 comments Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell

7. Nineteen Eighty-Four 4*

I think I'll definately follow this up with a light entertaining read.

Em (emily27) | 21 comments Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

8. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet 5*

I loved this book! I loved the dynamics between the characters: the distance between Henry and his father reflected in the distance between Henry and his son. Jamie Ford is a master at portraying emotions and evoking them in the reader.

Em (emily27) | 21 comments The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

11. The Last Song 4*
This was my first Nicholas Sparks book and I really enjoyed it. I've always avoided Nicholas Sparks because I thought he seemed a little to "chick-lit" for my tastes, but ironically he's my boyfriend's favorite author- so I thought I'd give him a try. Glad I did and I think I'll have to give some of his other books a try now!

Em (emily27) | 21 comments The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen

12. The Girl Who Chased the Moon 5*
As always, Sarah Addison Allen delivers in her newest book. It was a very charming read- I loved Vance. Also, Julia's baking made me crave cake like no other. My only criticism: the plot feels a little thinner than her previous books, but still an enjoyable read.

Em (emily27) | 21 comments Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel

13. Like Water for Chocolate 3*
Definately and intriging read but I found some parts were just a little too weird. Not particularly fond of the ending...

Em (emily27) | 21 comments Yeah, so busy summer, busy semester.. my reading time has taken a big hit this year. Definately not likely I'll make it to 100 this year, but who knows.

September, October, November

On the Road by Jack Kerouac Untamed (Medieval, #1) by Elizabeth Lowell Forbidden by Elizabeth Lowell Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

17. On the Road 2*
18. Untamed 4*
19. Forbidden 4*
20. Eat, Pray, Love 3*

This semester has been pretty intense- applied to grad school (got accepted!!!) and have way too much homework. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't going home every other weekend to work, but oh well- that's life.
