Gina | 40 comments I read Calculated in Death. I'm on Rapture in Death now. I wanted to read the series again. I love the series. I miss the characters too.

message 155: by Sharon (last edited Apr 17, 2013 04:30PM) (new)

Sharon Michael I'm pretty much re-reading the series. I'm working on artwork steadily right now and need something to 'rest' with but that I can put down without much stress, so it's got to be re-reads for me for the most part.

Definitely enjoying it, though I have a question about a character that's mentioned, a boy named Kevin. It's in a book before Purity in Death, I know and I can't remember if he's an orphan to begin with or his parents/guardians are killed but he is adopted at the end ... and can NOT remember the name of the book he appears in.

Anyone recall?

message 156: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments I answered in the other link, but will again here...Vengeance in Death. He was an abused child

message 157: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Michael Thought I remembered that he was an abused child but could not remember 'which' book it was in. Thanks.

message 158: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Anytime. I do ths all the time, especially in the games we have going, I will remember the info but the books can start to blend together at this point.

message 159: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Michael I've always been bad about titles. I have several series on my permanent bookshelves that I have collected and re-read for years but many times I can't remember which plot/characters occurred in which titles.

I'm reading A Cold Dark Place by Gregg Olsen A Cold Dark Place (Emily Kenyon, #1) by Gregg Olsen . He is best known for true crime so I'm hoping his venture into fiction works well.

Dawn | 3250 comments Oh let me know how you like it Jonetta. You currently have me addicted to Danelle Harmon, so I finished the de Montforte brothers and have moved on to her sea series. Smart of her to I introduce the hero of the next series in the last book, so now we must know about him.

I love her writing. It's still early with this book so I'll let you know.

I did read Triptych (Will Trent, #1) by Karin Slaughter by Karin Slaughter and really liked it. It's the first book in her Will Trent series. I was advised to start her Grant County series before moving forward with the other one as a major character from GC is soon introduced. The first book in that series is Blindsighted (Grant County, #1) by Karin Slaughter .

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments I'm reading the Kincaid Brothers trilogy (starts with Out of Control) by Mary Connealy. They're Christian Historical Western romances. (Is "historical" implied in "Western"?) Yeah. I have great taste.... *snorts* They're actually quite good though. I'd never read anything by the author before, but I could tell by about page 10 that I was going to end up reading every book she's ever written. I've read the first two books now and I haven't changed my mind. Witty, witty writing. There's nothing I like better than clever characters! And with Christian books, I prefer the characters not to be annoying about faith, and these ones aren't... Some books are really heavy-handed and the characters sound like their sermonizing half the time. These characters aren't. It was all quite natural, I thought.

It is a good one!

message 182: by Aiesha (new)

Aiesha (bigtexasaj) I just finished A Faint Cold Fear A Faint Cold Fear (Grant County, #3) by Karin Slaughter and boy, did it end with me saying "Wow!" I can't say I cared for one of the main character's in this book. I didn't like the direction that the author took her in, however, it made the story that much more interesting.

I'm going to take a short break from this series to continue working my way to through Lisa Gardner's FBI series with Quincy and Rainie. I started The Killing Hour The Killing Hour (Quincy & Rainie, #4) by Lisa Gardner this morning. There are only 6 books in this series so hopefully I get it finished soon!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Aiesha, I'm reading Blindsighted Blindsighted (Grant County, #1) by Karin Slaughter now. I started with the first book in the Will Trent series and was told to stop and begin the Grant County series because of character crossover. I'd also heard some time ago that she had done some things with this series that disenchanted her readers. I can actually sense something like that coming, even from the first book.

Really?? That's very interesting! I had not heard that but I can definitely see what they are talking about. However, with 3 more books left to read, I'm trying not to jump to conclusions too early. Thanks for that piece of info!

I hope you'll start Will Trent when you finish the series. Triptych was really good!

message 187: by Aiesha (new)

Aiesha (bigtexasaj) Yes! I definitely am going straight into that series after this one!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
There were some in my Shelfari groups that weren't happy with how she ended the series. However, I've read some of the reviews and there were just as many who thought the ending was brilliant and inevitable. I like controversial endings so I'm intrigued.

message 189: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) I just cannot find a book that holds my interest. So far I've started and put aside 6 books. But ... I have several boxes so I don't plan on running out of reading material any time soon.

I do see alot of other authors / books on this thread so I'll be giving some of these a try.

I have some other July Buddy Reads so I'm starting The Siren (The Original Sinners, #1) by Tiffany Reisz and Redneck Romeo (Rough Riders, #15) by Lorelei James also.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
I've read it twice or maybe 3 times but when I have a long break from the series - as in reading so many other books - I always come back and start over with the first book. I'm going to look at trying to get them on audio so I can listen to the books & still get some other things done. Just not enough time in the day!
