Simple Genius discussion

I cannot get into this book because I cannot identify with the characters.

I felt the opposite really. Perhaps that's due to my interest in psychology. I found the character of the little girl intriguing and very well portrayed.

Colleen, I just finished the book and rather liked it (but read my review). If this is the first book in the series you've read, I suggest you go back and read the first two (Split Second, Hour Game) in order. They will help you 'connect' with the characters.

Guess I'm reading them out of order....Hour Game is up next for me.

His early books in each of his series are ruff starts,but well worth hanging in there for the ultimate payoffs. They progressively get better and truly should be read in order of their respective series. My favorite is "The Camel Club" and their characters.

Totally agree...read Camel CLub in order then King/Maxwell series. I hav read a couple of his stand alone books also...If you want another similar author, I would recommend Michael Connelly and the Harry Bosch series - start from the beginning though.
