Laurie (Kwiltreader) (lauriekwiltreader) Been busy so far this year...
1.Red Cat-Peter Spiegelman.
2.The Last Oracle—James Rollins.
3.Death of a Hussy-M.C. Beaton.
4.Long Lost-Harlan Coban--one of his best
5.Death of a Witch-MC Beaton
6.The Killing Hour—Lisa Gardner
7.Skipping Christmas-John Grisham
8.A Tree Grows in Brooklyn—Betty Smith--5 stars
9.Darkside—PT Deutermann
Currently working on Team of Rivals--900 pages--liking the book-- just hate reading for a deadline.

Laurie (Kwiltreader) (lauriekwiltreader) 10. Death of a Prankster—MC Beaton
11. Footprints of God—Greg Iles
12. I Love you Mom, Please Don’t Break My Heart—John Borgstedt
13. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo—Stieg Larsson
14. The Monkey’s Raincoat-Robert Crais
Wise Blood—Flannery O’Connor. I just couldn’t get into it so not counting it.
Also not counting this month's book club read--The Blind Assassin--couldn't get into this after 3 tries over the past few years.
Still reading Team of Rivals--making progress--I've challenged myself to finish it this month.

Laurie (Kwiltreader) (lauriekwiltreader) I guess I've been so busy reading, that I haven't taken time to post...so here's my list as of today...
FEB
15. Love Walked In-Marisa de los Santos—excellent.
16. 13 ½-Nevada Barr-excellent book and reader
17. White Jazz-James Ellroy.
18. Team of Rivals—Doris Kearns Goodwin. Had to do both book and tapes to finish--well worth it.
19. Shameless Exploitation in Pursuit of the Common Good—Paul Newman

Laurie (Kwiltreader) (lauriekwiltreader) MARCH
20. The Neighbor-Lisa Gardner. Excellent thriller, mystery.
21. Middlesex—Jeffrey Eugenides. I just finished listening to this book and am undecided about how I feel about it. Am I glad that I read it? Yes. Is it my favorite? Not really. Would I recommend it to everyone I know? Probably only a few of my "reading" friends would be open to it. It would make an interesting book club read because there are many topics and issues raised in this book
22. Death of a Valentine—MC Beaton. Hamish’s wedding day has arrived…and that's all that I'll say about it...
23. The Charlemaine Pursuit—Steve Berry--could have been so much but was disappointed
24. Beverly Hills Dead—Stuart Woods. 0k
25. The Spire—Richard North Patterson—Well read by Holter Graham. Good psychological thriller with several plausible suspects.

Laurie (Kwiltreader) (lauriekwiltreader) APRIL--so far
26. Blood Trail—CJ Box. #8-Joe Pickett. I like Joe Pickett because there’s a real and believable humanness about him. Very strong in his beliefs and reactions. Really liked this book, may have suspected the outcome. Interesting clash between pro and anti hunting groups. Only negative is that Joe seems to becoming more physical in his reactions. I hope this is not a trend since I like Joe to have his real feelings and fantasies about getting even or striking out and punching people like Randy but one of the things that I admire is that he has some restraint.
27. Whose Body? By Dorothy L. Sayers. Good Lord Peter Whimsey mystery.
28. Dead Heat—JA Jance—audio-Ellen Travolta.
29. On the Grind—Steven Cannell.
30. The Poet-Michael Connelly. Very good.
31. The Next Accident-Lisa Gardiner. Early Quincy/Ranie—very good.
32. The Perfect Poison-Amanda Quick (Jayne Krentz). Interesting mystery taking place during Victorian times and using botanicals/herbs for poisoning murders.
33. Day of the Dead—JA Jance.

I started Iron River—T Jefferson Parker. But it just got too out there and didn’t tie in together enough to hold my interest... so didn’t finish it…

Laurie (Kwiltreader) (lauriekwiltreader) Rabbit, Run by John Updike
* What a waste of time. Only read t for Book Club...and it was fairly short...and, ok, I skimmed a lot cause it was boring.

Laurie (Kwiltreader) (lauriekwiltreader) 34. Boneyard (Kelly Jones #2) by Michelle Gagnon 4*
35. The Bodies Left Behind by Jeffery Deaver Audio—Holter Graham—excellent read. Good Deaver mystery.
36. Say Goodbye (Quincy & Rainie #6) by Lisa Gardner Audio—Ann Marie Lee & Lincoln Hoppe—very good readers. Very good read/listen. Some very disturbing scenes but all related to the story. 4*
37. Rabbit, Run
