Would someone be willing to update the cover to this book? I would be eternally grateful!

Thanks.
Chris Salerno

Werner | 109 comments One of my Goodreads friends messaged me to ask how one adds cover images to the Goodreads records for books. (She has several books on her shelves that don't have images, and would like to add them.) I've never done that; but I knew this group would be the place to come to for instructions! And do you have to be a Goodreads librarian to add cover images?

Also, though the question is not directly related to this thread, how does a person go about applying for Goodreads librarian status? (Being one myself, you might think I ought to know --but I never applied for my status; I think I got it automatically as a Goodreads author, and was surprised at the time to discover that I had it! :-))

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Werner, there are two ways to add a cover image to a GR record.

One is to have the image uploaded to a website, then post here in the GR Librarian group with a link to the edition and a link to the uploaded image.

The other is only available to librarians (or the user who manually created a book record, for manually created records, but that's a rarer situation). Have the cover image downloaded to your computer, open the "edit" view of a record, and use the fields in the upper right corner to upload the image to GR.

Note: In both cases, please be sure that the cover image matches the exact edition in question, and don't remove existing cover images (sometimes the same edition is printed with different covers).

If your friend would like to apply to be a librarian herself, the application instructions are here.

Werner | 109 comments Thanks a bunch, Cait! I'll pass those instructions on to my friend (and print them out for myself, too).

Jen (missonethousandspringblossoms) | 11 comments Okay. I need help. I think. I have checked the librarian manual and attempted to do what it suggested concerning adding cover art for an existing isbn (DeLillo's The Names

This is the the link with the isbn with the ever sweet and kind DK's comments (and yes, I jest- it is not sweetness that keeps this guy going!)

I added my created edition with the alternate cover in his comments...did I do this correctly?

You're welcome, Werner!

Sandra | 31447 comments Jen, just a thought, you might want to add Publisher, page numbers, format etc to the alternate cover version of The Names. The cover looks very good.

Jen (missonethousandspringblossoms) | 11 comments I thought Kasia did that...I will try to check that later tonight and add it if needed.

Sandra | 31447 comments You need the information from the book to do it. Kasia may not have had access to the particular edition.
