Sara W (sarawesq) | 2153 comments Hey everyone! Our March 1 - April 1 History group read will be:

Through a Glass Darkly

Through a Glass Darkly by Karleen Koen

by Karleen Koen

We will start the discussion on MARCH 1ST. Feel free to read the book whenever it's convenient for you, but keep the discussion date in mind - we won't start early!

We'll do the discussion threads broken up by chapters like all the other times, but I figure this thread can be used by those frustrated with amazon's delivery slowness (or your library's slowness) or for any other reason. Just don't discuss the book in any detail here! (General "I'm a couple chapters in and I like it" comments are fine, but we'll start the real discussion threads on MARCH 1ST.) For those of you just joining us, you can look through the previous threads in this Monthly Group Read section to see how we did it before because the process will be the same (there's also a thread just like this thread for the other books we've read together).

Jenny Q (jenny_q) | 58 comments I'm looking forward to this one. Just put it on hold at the library so I can start on time!

Misfit | 696 comments It's really good fun. I confess to getting an early start, I have a terrible cold and nothing else will do but an old favorite comfort book. I do still love grandmama :)

April | 23 comments Oh my goodness I love this series! I read it last year and I am going to read it again now! So excited!

Jenny Q (jenny_q) | 58 comments I've finished it. LOVED it! Can't wait to start the discussion!

message 7: by Misfit (new)

Misfit | 696 comments I just reread it for the second time and loved it as much as the first. Barbara's mother is a hoot! I was hoping to wait and read with the rest of you but I was desperately sick and needed a comfort book.

Rosalie Sambuco | 30 comments I just started this book yesterday. That is my excuse for reading all the time and fixing soup and sandwiches for supper. I have had the book for several years on my TBR list. I have enjoyed reading it so far. This is one of my favorite periods of English history. I just finished THE COURTESAN, THE ROYAL HARLOT and THE PERFECT ROYAL MISTRESS. These are stories about Charles II and his mistresses

Jenny Q (jenny_q) | 58 comments I read The Perfect Royal Mistress. Funny thing, I also wanted to read The Courtesan and thought I had checked it out of the library, but it was actually another book with the same title by Susan Carroll. It ended up being a good mistake because I loved Susan Carroll's book and ended up reading the rest of her Dark Queen series. But I still want to read Diane Haeger's book.

Rosalie Sambuco | 30 comments Diane Haegar wrote both THE COURTESAN & THE PERFECT ROYAL MISTRESS. Both books are very good. I also read the Susan Carroll books and enjoyed them. Susan Holloway Scott wrote THE PERFECT HARLOT. It was very good but has much more graphic sex scenes. I just ordered Susan Holloway Scott's book about Louise the French mistress of Charles II. I have enjoyed reading the same people's stories from very different authors.
