Zee Monodee (zee_monodee) | 688 comments Nice discussion.

I'm 5'3 and hubby is 5'10. I'm still like an inch or two shorter than him in heels. My ex-husband was 6'1, and it was awkward when I was in flats, always had to be in high high heels.

On another note, dated a guy who was one inch shorter than me, and no heels possible then. Even kissing when in flats was strange, like, you expect to go on tiptoe and tilt your head to kiss and be kissed. Feels strangely like the woman is the 'aggressor' with a shorter man, you know what I mean?

I don't mind the height itself, but to me, the hero should be taller. Part of the 'magic' is to lean on tiptoe and the head tilt for that first kiss, and that happens when he is a few inches taller.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I love tall men as I am quite tall myself at 5'9" and I would love to have a guy who was over 6ft,preferably 6'4", alas that has happened yet, so if you know any chuck them my way

Z I have the very same fantasy the whole on tiptoes tilting my head up, rather then having to bend down, England must just be full of all the short men : (

So in a book I prefer the hero to be taller, but I don't really like it when the hero over 6ft and the heroine is under 5'5" Lol I get annoyed on behalf of all the talle females in the book lol

Hey Suzanne

I've always had the opposite problem, that they shouldn't be that much taller than 6ft! I'm Indian though, and most Indian men do not top much further than 5'8. Heels, forget it, especially if you want the 'magic' of the first kiss.

Having to bend down to kiss is really awkward, kinda takes the magic away. *shiver*

But too big a height disparity can work, like when the heroine is this feisty little thing and the guy is this huge hulk, but she ends up twisting him whichever way she wants!

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I have given up on heels lol for a start I can't walk in them, and it makes me even taller; I feel like giant!

Well at least your hubby is taller then you, that's good, my ex was about 2 inches shorter! I am holding out for a Black Dagger Brotherhood sized man!

Yeah that is fun when the tiny feisty woman has the hulking man under control lol Especially when the man thinks it is the opposite way around : )

Yup, very true when the man thinks he's controlling but it turns out it's the woman who does so. Very much the case in Indian society too!

I'd love to find myself a Black Dagger Brotherhood specimen too. No wonder these men are so hunkered after!

It's hard for me to find someone shorter, but it does happen. Or else I find someone same height as I am. Thank goodness the man I'm 'stuck' with is taller!

Z, please don't get offended. Your stuck comment made me laugh.

No offense taken, Arch! I really 'mean' it. I mean we're closing on eight years together here (well, marriage/living together) and we still haven't throttled one another to hell and back. So yeah, we're 'stuck' in a way, coz no one else will have us but together we're like fire and gasoline.

UKSandy I think the heroine should be shorter. I'm 5ft so have no problem having a hero taller than me, hubbie is 6ft and I just love it - especially when I'm upset and he give me a cuddle my face just falls into his chest, I'm also happy to say I think I have found my brother. I do always wear 3inch heels as much as I can though but I love tall men and I think you often see tall men with shorter woman - maybe it makes them feel more manly - who knows.

Yeah, makes them feel all manly and protective, and we women feel small and cuddled and loved!

It fuels the fantasy, innit?

message 60: by Gigi (new)

Gigi I prefer them to be taller. It wouldn't matter to me whether the heroine was taller or not because I'd always picture the hero as taller. I guess when 9 yr olds come up to your chin, you just always picture taller no matter what! LOL

Lol about the 9 yr old to your chin comment. I have the same 'problem'!

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments *sighs* I wish I had that problem

Totally fuels the fantasy!!! there is NO fantasy without it (for me), lol...

Zee Monodee (zee_monodee) | 688 comments Lol. My 7 year-old son comes up to my shoulder, and my 11 year-old stepson is practically eye to eye with me. 12 year-old niece is taller by a head! 9 year-old twin nephews come up to my nose.

Sigh...

But yes, being short does entertain the fantasy. Thank goodness men's hormones make them tall!
