Not the most complex book, very chatty style; if you look at it as a self-help sort of book, it's pretty good as far those things go.
Very slow, measured style.
Lovely; it's very well-written, creative, and interesting - very clever prose version of comic book style (moments can be dilated over pages and huge events can happen in an instant).
This book reads like a screenplay; or a really long book report about a movie.
Very good portrait(s) of a criminal and a rural community.
A very nice memoir about childhood in graphic novel form.
Movie was better.
Good book. Lovely multigenerational stories about Chinese women and families in America.
Good airplane book - a bit better than the movie (more stuff in the book).
Nice, not my style, or maybe not my mood right now; possibly will re-read later.

A bit odd in a British sort of way; I wanted it to be better, but there were some interesting recipes and music suggestions.
Mildly interesting, but I don't think I learned anything from this book.

One of my book clubs recently read Little Bee; everyone panned it except my sister. I had bought the book (I really had high hopes), but donated it yesterday to the library.Rose
I am reading Tears of the Desert now, it is better, probably because it's a memoir, so even when it is a bit blunt it rings a little more true than Little Bee (ugh). But What is the What is the best book here about Africa.
One of the book clubs I'm in read three books about the Lost Boys. You're right--those stories are gripping (and tragically true).Rose
Ok. Most of it was pretty sedate. Some of it was very nice.
Very sweet book, but it did sort of lose my interest in the last 1/3 or so...
Good memoir; more interesting than literary, but I liked it.
Good lord these Stieg Larsson books are boring.
Nice. Maybe Alice Munro is just not my style.
