A Rose at Midnight by Anne Stuart. The book starts with the heroine poisoning the hero. Great start!

how sweet, what a way to find love!

Wow! That's tension!

How is it compared to Lord of Scoundrels or Claiming the Courtesan as far as intense characters? I thought The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie was going to be dark, and it really wasn't.

--It's pretty dark and intense. Nicholas isn't a very good man. Ghislaine is very scarred from her past. I loved it. Perhaps on par with Claiming the Courtesan. Not sure if that helps or not.

Lillian and Lord Westcliff in It Happened One Autumn.

if for PNR, so how about this books:
- No Rest for The Wicked - Kresley Cole
- Kiss of a Demon King - Kresley Cole
- The Darkest Kiss - Gena Showalter
sorry just this books that come in my mind when i see this thread
i'll tell you if i remember more ;)
The first thing I thought about was Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night by Kresley Cole, but that doesn't sound right.

Ah, yes. The Night Huntress series is a good example. Cat and Bones try to kill each other in the beginning. I think that qualifies for this thread. ;-)

A lot in this series. Love Cole!

Playing Dirty by Susan Andersen... Worthy of a second and third read
Bully by Penelope Douglas... Another keeper
Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. Not a serious hate but a hilarious book.

I just read a book that sort of fits your theme. The Hero and Heroine are enemies, but have a pull toward one another. The hero Kane is searching for revenge against the ones responsible for the death of his sister the one person he cared about. The heroine is an agent for the VCU an organization that monitors third species in the world. She wants to get Kane because she thinks he has answers about her parents murder. They eventually get an HEA. It is the first in a new series.

This sounds great! Thanks, Shae!

Hi, I've got a book that fits your theme but it's a mc book. The heroine has been on the run from the hero for a year. They used to know eachother but because of heroines dad they became enemies. Hero is president of mc club and is chasing the heroine across the country. When hero catches heroine he is at first horrible to her because he needs something she's got but later there's some really steamy scenes with a tortured hero (hero has a past). Excellent book, bought it on kindle. Was worth every penny.
