I love the enemies to lovers theme. But I really like it when the H/h start out as enemies and want to kill each other, but end up falling for each other. Can you think of any suggestions? A sort of example would be Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Okay, I watched too many action movies growing up. I'm sick and twisted. Thanks for the recs!

A Rose at Midnight by Anne Stuart. The book starts with the heroine poisoning the hero. Great start!

I hope you like it. It's dark, to warn you!

How is it compared to Lord of Scoundrels or Claiming the Courtesan as far as intense characters? I thought The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie was going to be dark, and it really wasn't.

Mir Shards of Honour -- they're officers on opposite sides of a war, from very different cultures. I loved that they always had respect for one another.

Ann | 1 comments One of my favorites is The Night Huntress Novels by Jeanine Frost....The Dark Days Novels by Jocelynn Drake. If your not familiar with that one it's kinda dark and so for in the series they haven't hooked up but there's soooooooo much tension....Hmmm I'll think about it some more I know I'm forgetting something.

--It's pretty dark and intense. Nicholas isn't a very good man. Ghislaine is very scarred from her past. I loved it. Perhaps on par with Claiming the Courtesan. Not sure if that helps or not.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Yes, it does help Danielle! Thank you!

The first thing I thought about was Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night by Kresley Cole, but that doesn't sound right.

Ah, yes. The Night Huntress series is a good example. Cat and Bones try to kill each other in the beginning. I think that qualifies for this thread. ;-)

Sandra | 4 comments Checkmate by R. L. Mathewson is a great and funny hate to love story.
Playing Dirty by Susan Andersen... Worthy of a second and third read
Bully by Penelope Douglas... Another keeper
Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. Not a serious hate but a hilarious book.

Nicole | 27 comments Hi,

I just read a book that sort of fits your theme. The Hero and Heroine are enemies, but have a pull toward one another. The hero Kane is searching for revenge against the ones responsible for the death of his sister the one person he cared about. The heroine is an agent for the VCU an organization that monitors third species in the world. She wants to get Kane because she thinks he has answers about her parents murder. They eventually get an HEA. It is the first in a new series.

Shae (shae33) For the Earl's Pleasure by Anne Mallory is a great one. though the hero and heroine were once childhood friends, as the story begins, they are enemies. what I loved about this book is that the journey they take toward HEA is believable, not rushed. the heroine doesn't just forgive him right away, there's a process. and its really entertaining and emotionally involving along the way.

Untamed Rebel Angels in Leather (Rebels on Bikes, #1) by Bella Jewel
Hi, I've got a book that fits your theme but it's a mc book. The heroine has been on the run from the hero for a year. They used to know eachother but because of heroines dad they became enemies. Hero is president of mc club and is chasing the heroine across the country. When hero catches heroine he is at first horrible to her because he needs something she's got but later there's some really steamy scenes with a tortured hero (hero has a past). Excellent book, bought it on kindle. Was worth every penny.
