Violeta (inspoleta) | 16 comments Hey! Found this group after seeing similar ones for 150 or 100 books (which sounded waaay past my abilities) and I thought "Well, that one might just be possible", although I still think I'll probably end up with 15 books read max. haha

So here I am! I'm going to try and read 50 books this year - something I've never done before. Let's hope I get to the finish line after all :))

Violeta (inspoleta) | 16 comments 1.Perfect Day by Imogen Parker

Finished this one yesterday. I've been ill past few days (and still am), so I finally had time to really get reading.
It was... eh. I was expecting a different ending. The book wasn't one that I'd want to read again, I knew that by the time I was on page 50 or something and it was still boring. The last few chapters tho were quite interesting and just when I was thinking "Well, it might just be worth the 3 stars" - BAM! it ended in a weird and unfinished way.. So I went back to the 2 stars I was originally thinking of giving it.
Sorry, I don't really recommend it unless you're bored and any book would do.

Violeta (inspoleta) | 16 comments 2.Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

Just finished this one about a minute ago.
I think this must be the fastest I've read a book ever! (Ignore the fact that I'd started it a while ago.. I had completely abandoned it but found it again two days ago and, as I'd pretty much forgotten what had happened so far, decided to start reading it from the beginning again)
Sooo.. It was a really light and fun read. I enjoyed every minute of reading it and would recommend it to any chick-lit fan. :)

It was pretty much as good as the first one. :) I am surely going to read the next one as well, I just really hope there's more of Luke in it because he didn't appear quite as much as I thought he would in this one.

Violeta (inspoleta) | 16 comments 4.I Never Fancied Him Anyway by Claudia Carroll

Chick-lit again. I guess I'm just in the mood for a light read these days.. This one was really sweet. Kind of reminded me of the Shopaholic series I've started, as there were some plot parts which were quite the same as Kinsella's 1st and 2nd Shopaholic books, but the huge difference here is that the main character, Cassandra, is a very stable person, knows what she's doing and only ends up in an embarrassing situation because of her good intentions. Unlike Rebecca, who genuinely LOOKS for trouble by lying and making up ridiculous stories :P

I've never read such a book before. It's a compilation of short stories and poems which can keep you up all night thinking (hence the name) because of their unusual endings. The book is very easy to read and it's quite short (about a 100 pages) so it can be read effortlessly in a day.

Violeta (inspoleta) | 16 comments 6.The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan

It took me a long time to finish this book - not because it was bad but because I was in a place in my life where I simply could not focus on a book that needed my complete attention. As you can see from the previous ones I finished this year (and they're not many, but I've been really busy) they were all light girly reads that you finish in 2 days, even when you're busy with other stuff.

Anyway - about the "Eye of the world". I'd started it a long time ago but only got into it this summer. The characters started developing a little, I started having my own predictions about what could happen in the next books, I now have favourite and least favourite characters :D - I love Lan, Matrim, Loial and, however predictable that may be, Rand. I'm waiting to get the second book soon from a friend.

Violeta (inspoleta) | 16 comments 7.A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks

I'd seen the movie a while back and loved it. I always end up loving and watching a thousand times the films that have made me cry.
It's a little sad to say I didn't like the book as much as the movie. Maybe because I expected it to be a little different - a little closer to the movie. It IS close, but it seems that the book lacked something I loved in the movie that I can't quite put my finger on...
Anyway, don't get me wrong - the book is great and if you're into love stories (innocent ones - don't expect anything more than the occasional kiss, there is nothing erotic in there) than I think you might like it :)
