We also wanted to maintain a very high caliber group which had the utmost respect for differing opinions and other peoples' points of view. That is why the group was initially introduced as a private group.
We are now a group for anyone interested in history, autobiographies, military history, British and World history, American history, ancient history, non-fiction books, historical fiction, current events, the United States Supreme Court, poetry, music and discussions on our important charter documents like the Constitution and the Bill of Rights or the amendments. We even have added a 50 Books read a year challenge and the new and very popular Book of the Month discussion where we read award winning and best selling books of the moment. Additionally, we will continue a year long study group of the book On Politics by Alan Ryan and we will continue to develop our Philosophy and Politics folder. We are continuing our study of the Federalist Papers and we will pick up where we left off.
We are always evolving and have added some new threads which focus on historical trips that some of you might have taken. There is a lot here including a Presidential Series folder dedicated to the American presidents, a major group selected spotlight read as well as other book discussions that focus on historical fiction. And we are very proud of our Military Series discussions which are popular.
We recommend that you take a look at the various folders and threads to find exactly what you are looking for. Additionally, we are always interested in new ideas for threads and welcome your thoughts and your suggestions. If you are interested in history, non fiction or historical fiction - this is the spot for you.
The founder/creator of the group and group head is Bentley.
Simon is HBC Administration - Web Integration, Vicki is also one of our Assisting Moderators with a specialty in all things Roman, Andre is Honorary Contributor EMERITUS - Music. Lorna is also one of our Assisting Moderators (T) - her focus is on the Supreme Court and Civil Rights, Sean is HBC - Web Integration and Jerome Otte is our Assisting Moderator - Upcoming Books and Releases and Douglas is HBC Administration - for our finance and entrepreneurial folders. We have a few other folks who will be joining the ranks soon as Admins who are in training.
Just like our group which is a global one; our moderators and administrators stem from the Metro New York City area, California, Pennsylvania, Indianapolis - Indiana, Virginia, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Hamburg - Germany, Singapore, Spain and Colorado.
We are also adding World Hosts. Also we are starting to add Thought Leaders for threads or folders and Douglass is our Thought Leader for our finance and entrepreneurial folders.
We are always looking for additional talent to help assume some of the assisting moderator roles for other interest areas.
This is a comfortable spot and a secure environment for discussions. There are the occasional blips on the radar screen like any public group; but the group is actively moderated and you will get a lot of attention and discover an active conversation forum for book discussions, ideas and events.
If you have not done so, please introduce yourself to the group by posting your hello on the Introduction thread. By the way, a brief intro is one of our requirements. We find that when a newbie introduces himself/herself everyone gets off to a good start.
