I have never read a book, where the hero was bald. But, I've noticed that the hero in our group's picture is bald. I think that some men looks good bald.

So, have you ever read a book, where the hero was bald.

Do you like bald heroes? Yeah or Nay?

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Gosh, I think one of the heroes in a Marliss Melton book is bald, but I can't remember for sure. I remember Tom in The Unsung Hero was losing his hair, but not totally bald.

I think I'd be perfectly ok with a hair challenged man as long as he loved me, treated me well and was honorable. And well muscled ;)

Yes, Tom was losing his hair.

The hero on the group's picture book, is working that baldness.

I have read one or two with a bald hero. But the author made them sound soooooooo enticing that who cares. There are some cuties in movies and tv that definately look fine. I'd have a problem with a partially bald guy with a comb over though.

In my opinion, some men look better bald. I can see a hero being sexy bald.

message 6: by Auntee (new)

Auntee | 74 comments I think the Marliss Melton book you're thinking of is Too Far Gone with Sean Harlan as the hero. If I'm not mistaken she said she based his looks on her own husband, who's bald.:)

willaful I like anything different, and bald definitely qualifies. :-)

Stan in Over the Edge by Suz Brockmann was bald, wasn't he? I loved him. In my mind, he is not ugly.

Jason Statham is going bald, and I could care less. He's hot.

Bruce Willis is another sexy bald guy.

And then there's Vin Diesel.
Enough said.

So I can deal with a bald hero. Like Pamela, I hope they go bald gracefully. No combover, please :)

I've read Over The Edge for Sam and Alyssa. I've read about Stan and Terri, but I don't remember if Stan was bald or not. I know that he didn't want people coming to his house.

I have to agree. Bruce Willis is a sexy bald man. I think his baldness made him more sexier.

message 11: by new_user (new)

new_user Fine with me as long as he's sexy. ;)

message 12: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne Couldn't resist this thread! Bald is OK with me to, so long as the word 'shiny' isn't included in the discription LOL I seem to remember there's a BDSM book where the Hero resembles Moby and one of the Sookie books has a bald hero that I didn't find attractive. I think maybe shaved is better than totally hairless though.

message 13: by new_user (new)

new_user Good point, Adrienne. No need for shiny! LOL.

message 14: by Arch (new)

Arch | 4246 comments Mod
A lot of men like to shave their head, because they like the bald look.

A hero probably didn't go bald, maybe he likes to shave his head, because he likes the bald look.

message 15: by Nisha (new)

Nisha (parakisu) | 35 comments While I find some bald/shaven head guys attractive, I'm not sure if books can describe it pleasingly. When a guy has hair, its easy to describe it as thick and rich colored or something. When you try describing bald, its veers into gangster or just old.

I can see a hero being bald, especially if he's a navy seal, bodyguard, hitman, sharpshooter, eraser, etc.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Shoot, I know in one of Elizabeth Hoyt's books, one of her heros(it was in the Legend of the Soldiers series) has his head...I think the words were his hair had been "clipped to the skin".....I pictured it like a brush cut, but being a barber...thats just what I would see. I prefer hair(on me my heros be that my real one ;) or in my books).

I don't like when a hero has long hair.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 54 comments I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty positive that Sutton West in Jennifer Lyon's Soul Magic was bald. I don't have the book anymore so I can't confirmed. Maybe some else can.

Oh, and he was adorable in a bad-ass way. :)

message 26: by new_user (new)

new_user Sounds good, Yz. That's pretty unique actually. I don't think you come across a lot of them in romance.

Adrienne Arch wrote: "I don't like when a hero has long hair."

LOL, for me depends on what I'm reading. Contemporary then no, not even if the guys a stripper, but historical......pre 1700 and were or vamp then yes. I read some erotic SciFi where the guys have long hair and that didn't seeem out of place.

message 28: by new_user (new)

new_user I can't stand hair past the shoulder. Must go. LOL.

I'm not overly fond of long hair on a guy. I think shoulder length hair can be sexy, especially if it has body and curl. I like a ponytail, well kept, and a braid on a ninja-type guy. I don't like long, messy, stringy hair on a man (like the hair band dudes). It's a yuck factor for me.

I find I like thinking about Phury's long, glorious, multicolored locks! And my husband, Nik from the Cal Leandros books, had long hair he kept in a ponytail in Nightlife. He cut it off when he thought his brother was dead.

I will speak for myself. When I read a book, I'm reading for the hero. I might like his heroine. But, my main focus is on the hero.

Kelly Flanagan " I usually do have a laptop case or camera bag with me, but the back pocket is for whatever trash romance I have. I rather enjoy whipping out a Blaze book from the back pocket of my black jeans with black t-shirt, black leather jacket, and black boots. The shaved head just completes the Harlequin reader look I'm sure. "
this is a post from another group I am a member of, but after seeing Cristy's post as a comment in my email, I almost split my pants laughing and had to share.

Well there was Quinn in the later Sookie Stackhouse novels. He was big, bronze, and bald. And a weretiger, which made him even sexier. Not technically a hero but he was Shmokin'.

But long hair or no hair, I just love Man.

Like Jason Statham....oh, Jesus. If he would just give me one night, JUST ONE. God could go on and take me out anything after that and I'd be fine.

lol my personal fashion was t-shirts and jeans (hip huggers). I got a pic of my hubby back then with long red hair and wearing a polyester suit complete with big tie. haha

Melissa (jedisakora) | 25 comments I'm actually fine with the bald hero. I love me some Jon-Luc Picard and his head is nice and bald. I'll admit as long as the hero isn't fat or dumpy looking than their head can be as smooth as they want.

Ooh, love me some Picard! Did I mention Billy Zane is a hot bald man. I was telling my sister, I keep picturing him wearing a loincloth and nothing else. He has a very anciently-beautiful thing going on with his baldness, because of his classic features. I could see him as a Pharoah.

message 49: by Arch (new)

Arch | 4246 comments Mod
Billy Zane looks different bald. But the bald look fits him. A few weeks ago, I've seen him in a suspense movie. I have caught like the last 30 minutes of the movie. He was sort of a bad guy.

I hope it comes on again on Showtime soon.

He does have the "I can play Pharoah look."
