David | 3 comments Does anyone know of good Devotional books? I recently read one entitled "My Grandmother is...Praying for me". This book is awesome, encouraging, inspiring and has daily application but tons of substance! I thought it was only for Grandparents at first, but it is for anyone looking to leave a "legacy" and it prays over the course of a year through the book of Proverbs! I ordered mine on amazon, its awesome!

Kitty Foth-Regner (kittyfoth-regner) | 13 comments The best devotional of all time is, in my opinion, Streams in the Desert, compiled by Mrs. Charles Cowman back in the 1920s or '30s. Best read in a beat-up early edition that has comforted and edified many others who have already gone on to be with the Lord. Stunning, timeless wisdom to transport you from the cares of the day into the the living reality of Christ's church. If I could have only one book besides my Bible, this just might be it.

David | 3 comments Wow Kitty, I agree! I couldn't have said it any better. Thank you for such an articulate description.

Kitty Foth-Regner (kittyfoth-regner) | 13 comments Sounds like you're familiar with Streams? I'm actually reading the sequel now, Springs in the Valley. It's not quite as good, but close. There's just something about hearing from these departed saints who knew what it meant to follow Christ...

Marcia (marcialaycock) | 10 comments Hi - I love Oswald Chambers' devotional book, My Utmost for His Highest. I also have written two devotional books (self Pub'd) The first one, Spur of the Moment won the Award of Merit at Write Canada when it was released in 2003. It's now in second printing. The second book is Focused Reflections, devotionals for special occasions like Thanksgiving, Christmas etc. It also has a couple of seasonal short stories included. See my website for ordering - www.vinemarc.com

Blessings, Marcia

Dáithí's (payattentiontotheshadows) David,

The classic devotional My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers has been an addition to my Bible for years. My mentors in seminary gave me a copy and predicted that it will be a life long friend. They were spot on. There are many options (styles, sizes, etc.) so it is very accessible. I have found this devotional to be there for me and fit my spiritual needs. It is amazing how the Lord places His wisdom in our paths just at the right time.

Blessings to you my brother...
If you need to talk, I am here as well.

Pastor Chris
