I love this theme in fiction. As a philosophy, I like to believe that anyone (most anyone) can change and become a better person, if they want to. Books that have this theme tend to be my favorites. Does anyone else enjoy this theme? What are some of your faves with redemption as an underlying theme?

This is a good theme Danielle.

Right now the only book that came come to my mind is Killer Dreams by Iris Johansen.

Jock (secondary character) and Royd (hero) are killing machines. Well, ex bad boy killing machine. They are on the good side now.

SM (smruth) | 15 comments I love stories of redemption, especially ones that break my heart in the process. The darker the hero's past, the more interesting he is to me. I wish I had a fav but I can't really think of any!

I suppose the fantasy romance Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson fits. The hero is a fey warrior-king who once "scorched" the world because his lover was slain in battle. He's quite the tortured killer.

Ooh, that sounds good, Susan. Arch, you have already sold me on Killer Dreams.

new_user That sounds like a good one, Arch. I think I like this theme, as long as the hero's dilemmas are not all resolved within the first few pages or before the start of the book, LOL.

Oh, no. It should be sustained over the book, methinks.

All I can say about Killer Dreams is that both Royd and Jock means business, when they say that they want to kill someone.

Jock didn't really get his hands dirty, but he would of, if he had to.

Read my review and see how I felt about the book. This book might not be to your liking.

I've fallen in love with Jock.

I want to end this reply by saying that Royd was out to kill the heroine. Of course, Jock wasn't going to let that happen. The heroine was his friend.

I read your review. Sounds like a great book, Arch.

♥Lynn ♥ Cyrus in the Jennifer Armintrout's Possession. He raped and killed many people, became human in this book and did a huge 360. Still not sure about him, have to read the rest of the series to see.
