Nancy (nanne736) | 38 comments Greetings,
I am new to the group and it looks like fun!
Is anyone else here from Georgia?

~Nancy

message 2: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Hey, Nancy. I've been to Columbus. Welcome to TC.

message 3: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mandypants) Hi Nancy. Not from Columbus, but I live in Montgomery. That's not that far away.

message 4: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I've been to Montgomery, too.

message 5: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mandypants) I'm so sorry, Larry. No one should have to go through that.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been to Georgia, if that helps.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome to TC Nancy.

I've been through Georgia, does that count.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I've driven through Georgia, which was way bigger than I expected and made me late to Disneyworld.

Er, welcome, Nancy!

Hell o Nancy!

I read a book set in Georgia once. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil? It really made me feel like I was there.

Largest state east of the Mississippi. Welcome Nancy. I'm across the state on Lake Sinclair. Are you at Ft Benning?

Hi Mandy,
My husband and I were over there last month-went to a show at the Performing Arts Center.

Savannah is a place unto itself.

Catalina | 268 comments During my last relationship, I spent half my time in Athens. Still will be going down there often as the new man has family there.

I received a speeding ticket in Cobb County on the way to Florida for Spring Break in 1977.

I believe he's also taking a dirt nap. The Big Boss Man, that is.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i just drove through GA twice last week. both times at night. do you people really eat boiled peanuts?

sally - what was the question mark for after the book title?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Welcome, Nancy! I've been to Georgia a couple of times. Atlanta is a big city, and Savannah is cool. I like how the first thing they ask you is what would you like to drink. :)

And yes, the state is larger than one expects.

message 26: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments the state is so big jackie had to say it twice

message 27: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) For a few years, I felt as if I had a second residence at the airport in Atlanta. I've driven in all directions out of there -- south to LeGrange/Columbus or Waycross (and into southern Alabama), west to Birmingham/Montgomery/Mobile, north to Greenville and Charlotte, and east to Augusta.

Atlanta traffic can be and is often horrendous.

I was raised in FL and we ate boiled peanuts there...and from what I can tell they eat even more of them here in GA...you must not have had them before? They are pretty good!

i am doing the grammar dance. sort of like the YMCA but i do some question marks, body comma's, two fingered period moves and finish off with a hand-jive-ish semi-colon flair move

Hehehe. Phil has actually been to Georgia, though only for three days for a software conference, and that was many years ago. He remembers four things from the trip:
1. Tour of CNN
2. Ultimate frisbee at a totally cool park
3. Dinner at the Hard Rock
4. Dancing at a club featuring a girl group he knew nothing of at the time. Ever heard of "En Vogue?"

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Did Phil just go third person on us? :-)

Félix (habitseven) Larry is duly impressed.

message 46: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) Welcome, Nancy! I've been to, over and through Georgia many times. Most memorably, my sister went to paralegal school in Atlanta so I drove with her down from VA after an all-night coke binge (if you must know) which made for a very looooong trip, and flew back the next day. Coincidentally her future husband was a student at UGa at the time though they did not know eachother yet. He is a rabid Bulldogs fan.

Aaaaaaaaanyway.

Disclaimer: my days of all-night coke binges are SO over. That was back in the 80s, man.

message 47: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) He's a fan of rabid bulldogs, Mary?

That is a unique fan base, can't be very many of them.
