Alicia (kalypso) | 214 comments I recently finished House of Leaves, which is in the 'horror' genre. It was an awesome book but I read the whole way through expecting it to get scary but it wasn't frightening in the least. The whole concept is really out there but not scary at all. It is definitely one of the books that leaves you thinking about it for weeks.

Beth I read A Child Called "It" years ago when I was 11 or 12, and it seriously disturbed me.

I really liked The Onion Girl, although there were some disturbing parts. Some of Charles de Lint's other books of short stories also have some seriously disturbing, always haunting tales as well. I've sat up nights thinking about some of those same stories after reading them, just wondering.

The Hunger Games trilogy was just awesome, but throughout the series I kept asking myself, "Is this really a YA series!". So many people dislike YA because they don't want to feel like their reading a children's book, but these books were better than some of the adult novels I've read that have contained elements of war and death.

Kayla | 604 comments Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott was very disturbing. I just reviewed it on my blog.

Nicki (ophia) | 85 comments Living Dead Girl is pretty much the most disturbing book I've ever read, but I really liked it.

A Child Called It and Push are up there too.

Katelyn Broad (katelynb) Living Dead Girl and The Chosen One are both very disturbing to me.

Sheree Bonita (shereebonita) I think the most disturbing book I've read is Disgrace. I read this for my BritLit class and I made the mistake of reading before bed and had terrible nightmares. It's an amazing book though.

Ashley | 61 comments I just finished So Much Prettyand it is incredibly disturbing. The way it examines attitudes towards women and how they intersect with violence was haunting and really difficult to read. I kept getting up to make sure the doors and windows were locked and for awhile was pretty convinced my roommate was murdered. It was just that kind of book for me.
