Danielle ~ I finished this one and just loved it. Books rarely make me cry, but this one did.

Yeah, a bad boy! But one of the best bad boys ever!

Darcy, I'm so glad you loved it.
Michelle, you sound you have reader's block. I suggest a palate cleanser. Find the shortest book in your pile, with the simplest writing style. That will sometimes get you out of your rut. Or just watch some good tv for a night.

Good idea, thanks Danielle!

Wow, Anne Stuart share a book title with Suzanne Brockmann. My baby Dave Malkoff is Into The Fire. Suzanne's book.
She shared Fire and Ice book title with Julie Garwood.

Darcy wrote: "Maybe she sees titles and likes them and then uses them as well. It does seem odd that one author has doubles with 2 different ones."
Oh, I know. I don't think authors pick their titles.

I don't mind a writer sharing titles.
I like Anne Stuart writing. Fire and Ice was my first book by her. I can't wait to read more of her contemporary books.

Yeah, he realizes that he's human.
Yeah, he realizes that he's human.
Anne Stuart is my favorite, because she really shows how love can change a person's heart. And she does it in a really cool, non-sentimental way. The hero is a bad as he can be. He's not looking for love at all. But the heroine is his Achilles' heel, the one person who can make him feel human. Okay, I'll shut up now.

I can see why you'd have issues, Darcy. While, I don't deny that there was some dubious consent in Into the Fire, I really loved the book. I guess I like an edgy storyline in a romance.
SPOILERS******************************
I admit I was iffy about him at first...then I found out why he went to prison. Dillon truly loved Jamie. I don't think he quite knew how to show it, though.
END SPOILERS***************************************
Ready to duck tomatoes now. I don't mind dubious consent in a romance, depending on the execution. I have a big problem with the hero violently raping the heroine. But I'm fine with forced seduction, and did she really say yes scenarios, depending on the execution. That does not mean I advocate rape in real life, mind you. I don't. I think a man's pretty foolish to go there if he's not sure she wants to go there too. And vice versa, if the woman's the aggressor.

But that is why I like this site, I can talk to people and have a different point of view without it turning into a screaming 'I hate you' type of thing.
I can respect that, Darcy. I know some things don't work for me in romances. I don't read any romance books with anal sex in them. That's a big ick factor for me. I don't care for BDSM or violent sex stuff in romances (I don't mind tying up, although that's not something I love to see). I know a lot of friends who don't mind that. I'm okay with dubious consent, and that's an issue for others. Same with stalkerific heroes. I'm really glad when we can talk about things and be okay with feeling different in our opinions. :)

It is a good thing that we all like different things, that way there is a book for everyone. :)

It's all in the execution, isn't it? Some authors really 'bring it,' when it comes to a storyline, and others authors leave you cold.
I think that Anne Stuart's unsentimentality when it comes to the reactions and the characterizations of the heroes does leave some readers cold. Can't say why, but it works for me. Whereas, some authors don't do so well with gamma heroes. They come off as abusive and misogynistic to me.

I like Anne Stuart and it surprises me. I find myself being drawn into the story every time I pick up one of hers. The heroes are often a little too gamma for me but I still love em. I say I don't like something and I usually have that exception that makes it ok.
As far as plot, I definitely have exceptions to the themes I normally like or dislike. I absolutely despise adultery and cheating in a romance, but I have read a few exceptional books that I was able to love with this theme.

I agree with you about those themes. I hate them in real life and sure don't want to read about them.
