JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments This is my first day as a librarian. I would like to add a different cover for the book I'm currently reading but I can't figure out how. The book already has about five other editions, but none of them have the same cover as the one I'm reading, although one does have the same ISBN: 978-0-7564-0407-9. I don't want to delete a cover that's already on there, but I do like the books on my shelves to have the cover of the edition I read if at all possible. Is there anything I can do and how do I do it? The book is The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and there's a picture of the cover I want on Amazon here:

http://www.amazon.com/Name-Wind-Kingk...

But the picture is the 2nd photo, under the "See larger image and other views" area.

And since I'm already posting, I think it would be a good idea to expand the librarian manual into a rules AND how-to manual. You guys have got to get tired of answering the same questions over and over from the newbies! (I promise I did search a while for the answer before I posted this though.)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Hi, JG!

There isn't currently a way to upload multiple covers for a single edition, where "a single edition" is defined as books with the same ISBN number. This has come up before, and the solution for now is to add another edition of the book with a blank ISBN number (but with all of the other information) and to put the ISBN number in the description field with a note that this is a version with variant cover art.

(ISBN numbers have to be unique, which is why you need to leave it blank -- one of the few times when you'll want to do so!)

And thanks for checking before deleting the old cover art!
